At least he was human enough to understand what needed to be done. However, he did not create a state that would last forever. Even my great-grandfather, who was a member of the Communist Party, understood that the Soviet Union was a failing state. And now, look what has become of it. Russia is a shell of its former glory, ruled by a monster who only pretends to be human in the form of Vladimir Putin.

Mikhail Gorbachev was not only the last leader of the Soviet Union, but he was also a best. In my humble opinion, he was nothing short of a SAINT. His reforms were nothing short of miracles. Perestroika saved the Soviet economy for a time, after the stagnation occurring under Brezhnev, Andropov, and Chernenko. Glasnost allowed the people to experience an intellectual renaissance. Demokratiya changed Russia for the better. He may not have been the best leader after the USSR fell, but I wholeheartedly believe he would have been a better successor to Boris Yeltsin instead of that monster Putin. Gorbachev would never have declared war on Ukraine. He would have allowed it to join NATO, ended the union between Russia and Belarus, allowing for Lukashenko to be overthrown, and would have created a functioning state had it not been for the August Coup. Putin did not even commit to burying him alongside other Soviet Leaders. He simply walked into the room where his body lay, made the sign of the cross, turned on his heel, and left without saying a word. This disrespect pales in comparison to what Putin did on February 5th. He unveiled a statue of Joseph Stalin in the center of Volgograd to mark the eightieth anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad. In my opinion, they should just tear down the statue once Putin is overthrown. May Gorbachev rest in peace and stay a saint in heaven, while Putin deserves to be sent back to hell whence he emerged. Putin is not human. He is a MONSTER, and probably Joseph Stalin reincarnated. I fear that if he is not stopped, he will change Volgograd's name back to Stalingrad, and make de-Stalinization a mockery by restoring everything Khrushchev attempted to remove.
@samannaybiswas860

Yes, Bro. You're right. Bet your ass he will. Lol. What are you gonna do? Khrushchev was a fucking liar. Tear down the statue of Joseph Stalin in the center of Volgograd to mark the eightieth anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad? How ungrateful can you be? I bet you'd be apologising to Nazis in German otherwise.

And yet many Russians consider Gorbachev the worst Soviet leader, a traitor who sold out to the West, destroyed the USSR and caused the economic turmoil of the 1990s. While the same people praise Putin as the saviour of Russia. Putinist brainwashing propaganda is very strong.
