There is no greater mental and emotional impact left on the human mind than what deer camp leaves on a family that hunts together. Awesome vid.

The property and the cabins that you have built through the years is in itself an homage to your father and also to you as your children would see it when you're gone. You've done a great work.... you've got something there to be proud of. In a grid down situation you've already got your Bug out location and survivability rate is very good. May God bless !!!

This can't be anywhere but Minnesota. There is no place in the world like it! So awesome-I wish I were there right now. It has to be the air-I never sleep so deep and so peacefully and wake up so refreshed and ready for the day. Even in the middle of summer there is constantly just this peaceful, cozy feeling! And in the winter? Forget about it! Get the fire going, a good book and that is the perfect evening for me -well, the addition of homemade chocolate chip cookies makes it even more perfect-LOL! City life just is so totally different. It may be where the jobs are, but it isn't where the life is in my book.

I used to have a mattress on the floor too and it got moldy underneath. I learned that I needed to flip it often. My back's not great so eventually I want to build a super-short vented mattress stand so I don't have to flip it all the time. The added bonus would be a convenient place to store flat things under the bed.

Nice to see you respecting your father's memory now that your a family elder ,I'm 72 yrs old now and wonder where the years went ,my dad was an avid Motorcyclist and I caught the big from him ,7 yrs before I was born my dad bought a 1938 Knucklehead EL I sat on his lap riding as a child ,when I was 10 yrs old my dad took me to the Harley dealer with him when he bought his 1955 Panhead Duo Glide, in 1970 I went with my dad to the dealer again upon returning from my 3rd tour Vietnam and he bought his last bike ,a 1970 Shovelhead FLH ,that same day my dad gave me his 55 Panhead & I rode it daily until he passed away in 1979 ,I inherited his 1938 Knuckle and the 1970 Shovel so I still have every motorcycle my dad owned since we immigrated from African Libya to USA, he had to leave his 1932 Indian Chief at our family's home in Libya when we left where my uncle threw a canvas over it and left it in the barn ,revisiting my childhood home in 1984 I found my dad's Indian Chief as well as his vintage riding leathers in the barn and went through quite the expensive headache shipping a non titled motorcycle to the USA but we have it here ,sidecar & all ,I've kept all 3 of my dad's vintage Harleys in factory running condition & collected several bikes of my own ,so when I pass it will be my son's turn to keep grandpa's and my bikes going ,plus they have the vintage Indian Chief they MUST RESTORE because so much has rusted ,broken ofc and seized up ,it's nice when father's mad sons share the same hobbys like you & your dad with hunting ,me & my dad also shared a love of firearms which I still have all of his firearms, hopefully you can pass on your property you find solice in to your sons ,it's a beautiful plot of land and a fabulous looking place to live Thats away from the noise & filth of the city's, good luck to ya . Hello George, Beautiful home, cottage or cabin I love what you've done with the place Having seen Joe and his dad's place I thought that the land was flat here by the lake but the hill or morraine on which you built the cabin is the best feature of your property the road does take away a little but I am guessing it wasn't there when you built it in 79' One question What happened to your dad's cabin? With best wishes Imran Naser
@living_north
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Imran. The highway was always there. Sometimes it creates some noise but it also allows me to use the cabin in the winter with only a couple hours of snowblowing required to get in. I guess I like the fact the cabin is near the road so more accessible especially in the winter. Quite different for Joe and the tent as I'm sure you have seen what it takes for them to get back there in the snow. My dad never had a cabin in this area. Maybe you are thinking of Joe's dad and his cabin next to the tent area. Thanks for watching and glad you like the videos.

The original log cabin is 12x16 so 192sq. ft. but also has a half loft so add another 75-80 so around 270 sq. ft. including the loft. Not a lot of space so I grew out of that as the family grew and that was why I added the addition, screen porch and sauna. Meets our needs now just fine.

Yes. I used to go to landings at one time and salvage wood after a logging job was done. I found that all the time involved, wear and tear on equipment, it was cheaper and more efficient to get the logs delivered. These days there are fewer loggers in the woods so even more difficult to find wood than in the past. Thanks for watching.

Yes the cabin has electricity and fiber optics run to it. I do not have a well or septic system. I bring water from home and there is the outhouse. Simple but effective and never have issues with freezing at the cabin in the winter. May not be for everyone but it works for me! Thanks for watching the video.
