Whilst a new washer and dryer will not have been cheap, compared to using a launderette (Expensive), they will pay for themselves in no time. Plus you gain so much extra time (no trips to the Launderette) to develop your dream. Love seeing every little bit coming together, a new laundry room, a greenhouse, a garden, little projects that make a BIG difference, and soon a small house. Wishing you every success in your future endeavors. Love from Yorkshire.

Dirt (,muck) and mud is the reason farmers wear coveralls, and people before washing machines wore aprons and sleevecovers. Using a catch the dirt layer as your outer layer of clothes will save wear on your clothes and a lot of washing.

The little laundry shed was a great idea to save money in the long run. AND you can wash Maggie’s blankets too. Saw the sign at the launderette about dog blankets. :( I understand where they are coming from, but still annoying. Now, you might kick yourselves later that you didn’t build a covered porch for your shed. Then you can do laundry in all weather! Of course, you can always add that later to the front and enclose it too when you have the funds.

You can build a drying canopy using the same panels that are on the greenhouse. Can be a little taller than the washing machine house you just built. Leave a 1m gap around the sides at the bottom for air to go through. On the most overcast, wettest days in December, a pair of jeans will be dry in 2 days. Sunny day and they are dry in 1.5 hours or less. Use your tumble dryer for 10mins then to get the last bit of dampness out of them in winter if you need to. I use this system in the Irish Midlands, with very similar weather to you. It will free up the Anker for other things during construction. Great project, I always look forward to the videos.

Hello, I'm curious how you've handled the disposal of wastewater and dryer lint - if someone is off the grid, they usually don't have access to sewage where they could discharge such wastewater. That water is often full of microplastics and residue not only from clothing but also from laundry detergents. So, it often becomes one of the least environmentally friendly solutions. It's a pity you didn't show us or tell us how it could be resolved on off grid place.
@CampOutWest
5 ай бұрын
Hi Martin, as we've mentioned in this video our land has access to main sewers from the old caravan site that was here, where we are running our waste water into 😊 For the dryer lint we are collecting it and combining it with our access wax from our candle business to make fire lighters for our log burners. Our land, we aren't fully off grid but plan to do what we can to be as self sufficient as we can, as our land came with some services in place already, it didn't make sense to remove them but we are planning on adapting our land to be off grid where we can (running off solar, growing and preserving our own food, setting up a rain water collection system etc etc) we will never be 100% off grid and that's ok with us 😊 it's all a work in progress.
