There is a reason why electricity is very expensive in the Philippines. During the 1990s, there were lots of blackouts. In order to solve the problem, the president then signed a deregulation law that allowed companies to charge higher and charge losses to the bills. That encourage companies to build power plants. So, think about it, the reason they are cheaper in the US is because there is a regulation.

My first time to spend multiple months in the Philippines came at the pandemic and also being in Silang, Cavite came the eruption of Taal. For most people that would probably be enough to make them leave and not want to come back. For me I love the beauty of the Philippines and the wonderful people there. They really make you feel welcomed and here in the States sometimes I don't feel welcomed. Too many people are not very friendly especially when it comes to driving. I am always excited to go to the Philippines and sad when we leave. Every time I go to the Philippines I lose weight and it's not because I don't like the food but it just seems to be the environment where I just eat healthier. So for me the Philippines is a better place to live especially for my health and I never feel homesick. Thank you to the Philippines for being a great place to live and it will be my home when I retire in a few years. My wife is here working so I am staying here with her. Can't wait to be back in the Philippines.

I can live anywhere in the world, but I fell in love with the Philippines when I used to travel here on medical missions in the early 2010s, but haven't been here in 10 years and have finally returned. 56,000 Philippine pesos is around USD 1,000. USD 1,000 is just a bedroom in Queens/ Brooklyn in New York City. An entire apartment with 3 bedrooms in the outer boroughs of NYC go between USD 2600 - USD 3200 a month. In Manhattan, it is MORE. The rents are ridiculous. It seems like a frequent occurrence, even for myself as a Filipino fluent in the local language, to inquire about a product in a store only to be informed by the sales assistant that it’s unavailable or out of stock. I suspect this might often be because they are not well-acquainted with the item you're searching for and choose not to verify its availability. I really enjoy this episode. As a retired Navy man myself, reason I joined is my mother is from the Philippines. My first port call in my career was Manila, back in 1996. My last port call before I retired from the Navy in 2017, was Subic. I plan on moving from Phoenix, AZ to somewhere in the Philippines, haven't decided. After your vlogs more and more, I am interested in BGC/Makati just been hard looking for a temporary place that will take pets. I am flying with 2 dogs and 2 cats. I am coming by the end of November 2024. Phoenix and its neighboring towns, make the area one of the biggest in the U.S. next to LA. It's great to see and hear from a fellow Navy Veteran that he is the city and not in Angeles or Subic. He is living off 8,000 in Western New York? I am spending 9,200 a month and it's just me, no wifey. Inflation is crazy and the same amount of groceries in 2017 is twice as expensive today. I can go on but you get the gist, I'm sure with you being from Chicago. I'm just tired of the too expensive and lowered quality of lifestyle downtown Phoenix. Wow, 4,000$ is more than enough. I was living in Makati for more than 10yrs (around 20010) with an income of 1,000$ . I lived in a condo unit near cbd of makati. I can afford starbucks everyday. Eat out on weekend. Shop frequently. Movies every other week. Not sure if the cost of living is still the same. 10yrs ago was still affordable.

Suggestion kuya I think you should interview a successful young pilipino Lithuanian couple youtuber "Vikachka & Eugene". I think they're unique or should I say rare. They have a lot of followers bcos they're fun to watch. They don't discuss much about their cost of living but maybe you can convince them to share some information. Also the baylosis squad Pilipino Russian couple. These couples are rare in youtube bcos most couple being interviewed are young pinay & old white male. I think young pinoy white female should be part of your topic so that the Philippines do not get stereo typed as pinays after old foreigners. Thanks

Murder is virtually legal in the Philippines but apart from that not much to worry about, dollars solve all. pricing going up and dollar collapse will change a lot. With money manila is cool. But it's not a healthy place. Air quality very poor.

Regarding air quality. The air we breathe impacts on our health. In 2018, the The World Health Organization (WHO) said living in air polluted reduced a person’s span by two years. Air pollution is linked to health problems such respiratory diseases, hearth diseases, asthma and skin and eye infections according to Disease Control Department. Among Southeast Asian countries, Thailand ranks second in exposure to air pollution, according to WHO’s State Global Air Report. Thailand competes with Indonesia each year to take the top spot for air pollution. According to the list of the World’s Most Polluted Countries and Regions (Historical Data 2018 - 2022) published by IQAir, a Swiss company that tracts air quality, Indonesia was the most polluted country in Southeast Asia (world ranking: no. 26 as most polluted country in the world), followed by Thailand (world rank: no. 57), Malaysia ( world rank: no. 59), Philippines (world rank: no. 69), Singapore (world rank: no. 77). Note. The list is from MOST polluted to least polluted. In case you haven’t read the news: In 2019, the air got so bad in Malaysia that dozens of students fell ill and experienced vomiting, prompting more than 400 schools to close across the country. Just a few months later, Malaysia was again covered by a dense haze that came from large-scale forest fires in nearby Indonesia, allegedly lit to clear land for the production of paper, palm oil and other industries. More recently, Thailand’s northern city of Chaing Mai took the unenviable title of world’s most polluted city for at least a week straight in April 2023, due to smoke from forest fires and crop burning in the country. Massive numbers of people sought medical attention for respiratory issues including astma and shortness of breath, with one hospital saying wardswere so full they had to turn some patienys away. In June 2023, it was reported that “New York was choking on smog” and that “New York City’s air ppollution among the world’s worst as Canada wildfire smokeshrouds Northeast.”

Why is it that when I watch television interviews done mainly through Filipinos, the seating arrangements are always done side by side instead of facing each other? Is it painful to see eye to eye with direct contact, such as among us of Asian descent? I noticed that a lot! 🤔🤨🥺 just wondering; peace to all. 😊

@@ronnelacido1711 Yes, but it is still too much. I know in the province building a house now also is very expensive. Just to build a simple and small house will cost at least one million pesos. And that is probably really tiny. The materials like cement and blocks are very expensive. Even building a house made of bamboo could be expensive. In the old days you can easily find bamboos for free in the wild but now you have to buy bamboos since most of the places where bamboos used to grow have been flattened and turned into subdivisions!

I live in San Francisco 🌉. $4,000 per month = rent! 🤢 $4,000 per month is for living in a cheaper state + in a rural or semi-rural area. 🙄 $4,000 in the rural areas in The Philippines 🇵🇭 = rent + utilities + food + transportation to and from work (assume 5 day work week) + clothing. Laws + minimum wage + lifestyle = expenses.
