A Baha’i-inspired community building group in Western Australia called the Albany Town Team regularly meets to organise informal community discussions and talks. The events are called “Living Room Conversations”, and in October 2022, they played host to a delightful, heart-felt conversation between Nyoongar Elder Averil Dean and Mahshid Ferdowsian at the Museum of the Great Southern.
A couple of notes before you watch and listen:
- Due to an unforeseen microphone failure, the quality of sound recording for Auntie Averil's remarks has unfortunately been impacted. We wanted to honour and share the conversation regardless. Adjustments have been made to support the affected audio recording as best as possible.
- This video does contain brief mentions of the n-word.

Thanks to Renee Tan, MC and organiser for helping to put this video come together and Josephine Hayes of gneissdesign.com.au for production and editing. And special thanks to Averil and Mahshid for sharing their time, stories and wisdom with us all! 💛
