Here is number one piece of advice from someone who's had tinnitus longer than you've stopped suckling mamas teet. Ignore, forget about. Live life to the max. Max is noisy, you won't notice it. Max doesn't mean too loud, defo wear musicians ear plugs in any sort of nightclub situ etc. But generally, just rock out, rage on, and don't give it a second thought.

I have one criticism. First off, don't tell people there is no cure for tinnitus. I have had tinnitus for 10 years ( I am a musician) and I firmly believe you can find silence again if you take the right steps in that direction. After making numerous changes in my life I now experience days were I have complete silence again, and I had the worst tinnitus imaginable. When I first got tinnitus I had multiple competing sounds in my head 24/7 and I was completely unable to sleep and I was eventually hospitalised because of that. It was a total nightmare that no one should have to go through. My life is very different now and this didn't happen through any type of habituation. Tinnitus can be cured.

What did you do to cure it?
@coreymihailiuk5189
11 ай бұрын
@@azopote9253 I am going to write a book dealing with my tinnitus journey. Freeing oneself from tinnitus is a very complex problem, but it can be done and others have also achieved this goal. Tinnitus is an alarm bell that goes off, indicating that something is very out of balance in your body. One must, by a process of elimination, find out what is no longer in balance. And there could be many things out of balance! One by one, you restore the balance and eventually tinnitus will disappear. You may have problems like a poor diet leading to chronic vitamin and mineral deficiencies or you may be suffering from some type of toxicity that must be dealt with to restore your health. You may be severely stressed out which can also feed your tinnitus. As you can see, many things can feed and sustain your tinnitus and all need to be dealt with. Once you have resolved these problems you’ll find complete silence again. Best of luck.

@@yuliolesaint I am not sure what you mean by that. I do believe that one can be cured but it's definitely a process. In some cases a lengthy process. One needs to get to the cause of their tinnitus and the things that are causing tinnitus spikes and deal with them.

Hi Jayden. Thanks for this video. I play music for decades and I have developed Tinnitus recently. I have put my ears at rest and totally stopped amplified music for a few weeks already. In order not to lose my playing skills, I still exercise everyday, but silently, without plugging my instruments into an amplifier. Last week, I tried to plug in again at very low level, about 60 db, with the cabinet on the floor and the speaker not aimed at my head. I played for a few minutes and when I stopped, the ringing in my ears was louder. I rested again for a week, the ringing having dropped significantly, I made the same experiment today, that lead to the same results; even by playing at a low volume for just a few minutes, the ringing gets significantly higher. This is all very discouraging, as I understand that the ringing won’t disappear nor diminish. I can accept the idea of having a constant noise and deal with it, but it’s hard for me to admit that I won’t be able to play electric again. What about you: do you still play/monitor/mix with amplified sounds and if so, does it increase the ringing noise thereafter ? Cheers from France, Rene

I am not a musician. Painting is my creative outlet. But I do have tinnitus and have had it for nearly a year now. I fully agree with Jayden about having a sound to help sleep. In my case, it is crickets. They closely match the pitch of my tinnitus. I have the cricket volume set at the same level as I hear my tinnitus and focus on the crickets, thus retraining my brain to filter out the tinnitus. When I paint, I play music. The stimuli and concentration from painting and listening to music (mostly instrumental pieces) distracts my brain and honestly there are a growing number of times when I am literally not aware of my tinnitus ... until, for some reason, I'm not concentrating on painting or listening to the music. I agree with Jayden when he said not to have negative thoughts about your tinnitus. Sometimes I do deep breathing exercises (my favourite is square breathing which is a deep breath for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 4, breathe out for a count of 4 then hold for a count of 4 and repeat till you feel comfortable and relaxed). I do this while listening to my tinnitus and quiet, soothing background/spa music and stripping away any thoughts. Another breathing technique is good for bed time - one deep breath in through the nose for a count of 4, hold for a count of 7, breathe out through the mouth for a count of 8 to empty your lungs of air. I guarantee you'll be yawning after 1 or 2 repeats of the 4 recommended repeats of this breathing. Distracting your brain by painting or listening to music helps to take away the perception of your tinnitus. Cooking is a good example of a distraction. Exercise and going for a walk are great distractions. Reading is another. By doing these activities you are recalibrating what is important and over time your tinnitus will be like the noise your tyres make when driving - you're aware of the sound but it is delegated less importance than other noises. As Jayden also mentioned, avoid reading, thinking or talking about your tinnitus. It tends to subconsciously bring your tinnitus to the fore and undo the good work you've been doing. I also had some good advice from my ENT consultant. As tinnitus is inter-related with your nerve system, avoiding stimulating it. Caffeine, alcohol, glucose/sugar intake needs to be measured and timed so as not to interfere with a calming bed routine as sleep is very important. As my ENT consultant said, you can't allow tinnitus to change your life. Enjoy a glass or two of red but not too late in the evening, have a coffee or two but make the last one early in the afternoon (say 2 or 3 o'clock) and substitute decaf coffee for later or zero alcohol drinks. Also, for myself, I've found that if I have had too many carbohydrates it has the same effect. One last thing is initially you'll want to have the challenges of tinnitus off your chest so you may mention it when a friend or family member asks how you're going. If your experience is like mine, you'll probably be shocked at how many of your friends or family members have it as well. You're not alone.

Thanks for sharing - much appreciated. I've had to stop playing in a band because of my Tinnitus. I've even tried wearing musicians ear plugs and a motorcycle crash helmet over the top, but still no good (singer couldn't control his output gain on his voice effects and made it worse again). I was hoping to start another band (without the old singer), but while at a Paul McCartney concert recently, the pyrotechnics (explosions) send the Tinnitus to a whole new level (at least twice as loud as before - even Paul McCartney made some comments and said the explosions were too loud). I live in hope - I miss playing in a band so will overcome it somehow. The advice about meditating, and rain sounds is very helpful. Thanks again for sharing. You do the world a great service.

Sad to see all these young people suffer with tinnitus and everything connected with it. I been dealing with this for over a decade sometimes with vertigo. I use to love quiet walks and have conversations with family and children. Now i have to weare hearing aides when the tinnitus gets extreme. They do help decifer the words and music more clearer. Some times i get frustrated with no cure for this with all the advances in medicine and technology. With all these young people suffering with this there should be a financial future to solve this. I know we all have to find a piece in ourselves to deal with it. I'm thankful i was able to hear my newborn children with out all this absolutely waist of noise in my head. This noise follows you whether your in a cave at complete silence or top of a mountain with no wind. To me it is like a terminally progressively disease that any day will turn a few more decimals higher and totally loose our mind. Young people don't be comfortable and all zen about this affliction We need a miracle for a cure for it is progressively louder in time. Im 67 years old and have a retirement with increasing tinnitus volume and quirk sounds.

Thanks so much for making such a helpful video. I’ve played guitar for fun for over 30 years, and I have tinnitus. I’ll be 50 next year, and now I feel like I want to take my playing to the next level and possibly play live. I’m confident that I could play acoustic guitar live, and as long as there’s no full drum kit being played, I don’t think it will make my tinnitus any worse. What about playing electric guitar live with a drummer and bassist. Do you think that with the right earplugs (that still allow for good tone perception) you could play at typical live volume levels and not make your tinnitus worse? My goal would be small venue, pub gigs. Would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks again.

I have tinnitus. It is so bad that when I hear a high pitch it doesn't stop. It continues. But I am aware it is an illusion of memory. I find attaching the sounds I make to the tinnitus responses a challenge. Sometimes it almost seems like the tail of a comet. Sometimes it's a blessing in disguise because it autopod amia sorda gives me ideas for chord and melody or rhythm connections. And it is fun to play around with when I'm playing around with my symbols. It sorta pulls the vibrations together and I see which patterns ring better together. We should just get right on top of it and make it do what we need it to do. No matter what it is.

My tinnitus started one day when I was cleaning my ears, I was too rough and it was like someone flicked a switch! One moment I had great hearing and the next moment I had tinnitus (that was many years ago). To add to your observations I find that diet affects the perceived loudness of my tinnitus e.g. when I consume bad carbs or alcohol it is definitely worse (but that maybe a cause and effect situation - I don't know). I'd love to be able to play in a live band again but am a bit scared of how that might adversely effect my hearing....
