The layering of her smooth voice over her power chords and distorted guitar riffs is just perfect...

This song is so noisy but it just all works. It doesn’t overwhelm the ears because it all sounds so warm.

It's not a single though, it's not marked down in her discography as one.

@@kyachdistent1301 It was released as a single to radio. In the '90s, particularly in North America, a lot of singles weren't released commercially, only to radio and MTV/VH1 (if a video was produced), but were still considered singles. Labels tried to do away with physical singles during the CD era, wanting to force people to buy full albums. "Polyester Bride" and "Whip-Smart" are readily acknowledged as singles, but there were no commercially released singles for either of those in North America. Here's the Discogs entry for the promo CD sent to radio outlets: www.discogs.com/release/3620865-Liz-Phair-Rocket-Boy

Huh. I remember this song from the radio, and I love Liz Phair, but I’d not before seen the video for this song, and I’ve no idea what movie it’s tied to. _Stealing Beauty?_ Bernardo Bertolucci?? How don’t I know this movie!??

It's not a bad film, but the reviews at the time were mixed and it didn't receive much promotion. Great soundtrack, though.

A little secret; movies and music are the same in any decade since WWI, with the same objective, to pacify the masses

@@user-ml7no4ys2j No, movies really WERE different back then, come on, you can tell there's a massive in what's happening now to then. Music still sucked though, in fact the 90s began to slide straight into the abyss.

Things always seem better in our formative years. Everyone through all time says, "things were better when I was young". Especially in the modern age. Not only are you physically or mentally getting to the point where you're a conscious person, but also you probably didn't have a job or bills or kids. So it probably was the best time for you and that includes music and movies. If you were coming of age in the 50's, that would be the best, and so on.

@@user-ml7no4ys2j They might have the same objective, but movies in the 2020s are the worst they have ever been, unoriginal storyline’s, CGI make most of them unwatchable !

Liv Tyler listening to Rocket Boy is the opening scene to Stealing Beauty transition to Hooverphonic's 2 Wicky heading into Tuscany then a banger party scene with Stevie Wonder's classic
