Beautiful playing Cole. I fell in love with these Wild arranged pieces 20 plus years ago when I heard "I Got Rhythm". Blew me away. At that time I purchased his Chopin 2nd Concerto Larghetto transcription. It's wonderfully written for solo piano and I think it would be loved by audiences in a solo recital. Something you might consider. Best of luck on your continued performance engagements. Thank You for these videos. Best.

You are forgiven! I'm not surprised you are in high demand . . . so your loyal KZitem fans appreciate what little time you can spare us! The Wild arrangement of 'Liza' is stunning and your performance is just brilliant, Cole: bravo - a real treat for certain!

Yep this was it. I guess now that I have played the whole thing on the channel I need to switch to something new that no one knows :-)

Hey Cole - so great your career is forging ahead so well. Lots of hard business development work from you I’m sure as well as your talent ! As we commented on elsewhere Wild really was a phenomenal musician, and I think quite under appreciated beyond his romantic virtuoso performances . His transcriptions are amongst the very best. Liszt, Rachmaninov and Wild and I think I’ll add Busoni to that list (having worked on some of those Bach transcriptions) My first pandemic project which got me back to my piano was to record all of the Gershwin song book. These are pretty difficult for me and the last, the hardest (I think) is Liza. I managed and I can tolerate my performances but the wild arrangements are probably beyond me - I’m not very good at passage work !! I’ve always wanted to try embraceable you but I struggled to even work out the fingering 😢 What I really like in wild’s arrangements is how he actually makes new pieces out of the material (as you show) and imbues them with his technical compositional and performance magic. He must have written original pieces too I would think, are any known ? Anyway as always a very fine performance from you with your usual impeccable melodic voicing and sparkly clean fingers.

I don't know of any of Wild's original pieces-although maybe his Porgy and Bess fantasy and variations on "Someone to Watch Over Me" come closest. Thanks for your comments as always! I like your list of the best transcribers-I would be tempted to add Grainger also, although I realize he is a little more controversial.

@@TheIndependentPianist yeah Grainger was a rather intriguing fellow in all ways. I live in Melbourne which is where the fabulous Grainger museum (actually created by PG himself) is. His folk song settings are marvellous, and I think are much more than just simple notations. I’ve sung some of his settings, such beauty in them. I should go ferret out more of his transcriptions I know only 2 or 3

The keyboard is a Kawai VPC1, but for the actual sound I am using Synthogy's Ivory II American Steinway D, (heavily customized).

Not sure what "original" means in this context . . . Earl Wild playing the compositions gets us closer to "original": kzitem.info/door/PLgMvJzaNr-B2JKN_x4tuSn4HmT48Yz3bU&si=KSMRx19cFPzIANpf
