I cannot believe they found a way to make farming electric lizalfos tails even worse, but they did. I am, however, glad the thunder helm is far easier to get in the meantime if you’re looking to upgrade the Rubber Armour. Hyrule Castle (upper) has a decent amount of blue Lizalfos hanging around too.

The grind to collect tails is genuinely one of the lowest points of the game. The fact that they nerfed the drop rate so badly is absolutely ridiculous when they’re needed for so many upgrades. Thanks for the video, it’s much appreciated.

I dont dupe and am going for ALL armour upgrades. I had no problem with the fire and ice (drop rates seem higher) but with the electric, it was a nightmare!! I made an entire pass through the desert and Faron (roughly 54 not including random spawns) and only got 6 tails!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!

I dupe the parts I can, but I can't dupe elemental items such as tails, gems, horns, etc. The process includes throwing them to dupe them, so you lose one in the process making it impossible to dupe using this method...

Imagine if black and silver lizalfos tails were needed for any armor upgrades. The devs did grant some mercy in that regard. With electric lizalfos, I usually hit them with an ice weapon, switch to a high-power weapon, and then hit them again for that increased "shattering the ice" damage. As noted by dietsoba, the (reproduction of the) Lightning Helm is easy to get in this game compared to BotW, so no need to worry about being stunned.

The best place to farm the green lizalfos tails is Lanayru wetlands, But I noticed if If dies in the water it rarely drops a tail, so make sure it dies on the land. And save before each fight they will usually drop the tail in just one or two deaths as long as they land on the land. I was using a 58 weapon and it only took two hits to kill them, I wore a lizalfo mask and just walked up to them and led them onto the dirt if they were in the water and then hit hit and got a tail about 50% of the time

@100PercentZelda I completely upgraded all armor, slew scores of lizalfos. Colored lizalfos dropped dails 30%, and elemental lizalfos dropped tails 15%. Not sure why every source I can find on the internet keeps saying a static 25%. How many people actually checked this? Just one, then everyone assumed it was correct? (The video helped me tons, don't get me wrong.)

Oh my gosh. I didn't know hardcore lizalfos grinding was a thing in Tears of the Kingdom. I am starting out. So I am still learning. There is so much stuff in here that isn't in BOTW. I did do lizaldos grinding in BOTW, but it is not nearly as much. This video is a lot to take in, but fortunately I did watch it early in my playthrough. I recently got to the part where I pretty much bought all the clothes from vendors. I even got the sand boots and snow boots from Gerudo Town. I ought to just avoid selling lizalfos parts and save them for armor upgrades. I have been saving gems too. Strangely enough, I got 89 amber. I am saving them to max out my basic outfit. However I can't find silver bokoblins this early in the game. So I can't use my amber yet. I am still going to hold onto it. BOTW has the basic set maxed out by amber and bokoblin guts. I got plenty of both items now in TOTK. I can't move forward because different levels of bokoblins and moblins have thier own special horns now. In the video, it seems like lizalfos are the same way. I had a tough time trying to find red moblins to start upgrading the flamebreaker set. I guess now is a good time to start farming lizalfos. The fire and ice ones are super easy due to weaknesses. I can defeat the green ones okay. The other ones are those I struggle with. Those with a ranking higher than green are too strong. The electric ones are also too difficult. They live in the desert, and I haven't upgraded my desert set yet. Once I upgrade my armor, difficult enemies are more doable. A good start is to pick fire and ice fruit. Then I can shoot them at ice and fire lizalfos respectivly to get some easy materials. Then I can upgrade my gear and fight the tough ones. It also helps that elemenatal jelly is used for early armor upgrades. Chuchu are common and weak. So that is relativly easy upgrading. Fire chuchus are tougher to find in TOTK, because the volcano is cooler. I bearly learned the trick that exposing jelly to elemental effects causes it to change. I think that works in both games. I figured that out right after getting all the fire jelly I need. I did try firing ice fruit to normal chuchus. Then I got ice jelly. That is cool. Maybe the ease of change is why chuchus are used for low grade armor upgrades. Lizalfos and ore is used for high grade upgrades. I recently learned that the best way to get lots of ore for armor upgrades is by grinding Talus. It is faster than mining ore. The highest ranks of upgrade is often miniboss stuff like hinox parts and lynal parts. So I figured out that Taluses were the miniboss to get the elemental themed sets. These sets are snowquill set, desert set, rubber set and zora set. The basic set also can be farmed with Talus. There is an odd thing. The flambreaker set has an elemental theme, but doesn't use ore. That is ironic since it is used for the Eldin region, where there is the most ore. That is wierd. It uses smotherwing, butterflies, witch are a pain to get. In BOTW I just buy them from Beedle. Maybe it would make more sense for flamebreaker set use amber abd and basic set use somthing else. The basic set out to use Hylean herb. It is a pretty common item in the wild. That seems right for someone upgrading thier first set. There is a lot of lizalfos parts needed in TOTK. The lizafo tail drop rate plummited. That is tough. I better start saving now. There is some things that make it easier. One is that the lizalfos are basicly in the same places as BOTW. Another is that the Lanaryu and Gerodo areas are absolutely packed with them. The high density makes farming easier. Every blood moon, a player can hit both areas and grind. I am putting priority on the elemental ones in Gerudo. TOTK made the Zora armor a lot harder to get. All I got so far is the chest peice from Sidon's girlfriend. Sidon actually has a finanche in this game. What the heck? When did this happen. The green ray chick wasn't in BOTW at all, let alone be paired with Sidon. I got to wonder. Did someone thirst over Sidon and made the ray chick as thier self insert OC? I thirst over the guy too to be honest. It is a good thing the Zora live in a watery area, so the thirst can be quench. Apperently I have to complete the water dungeon before getting the whole set. That isn't going to happen anytime soon. One reason is I like completing dingeons later in the playethrough. Another id that I plan to do the air dungeon first and fire dubgeon second. Since water is comming later, grinding regular lizalfos isn't a huge priority now. I still want to hold onto the parts. I had a tough time finding red moblins. Finding green and blue lizalfos will be difficult in late game. It is the same situation. Holding onto the parts will save lots of trouble later.

25% drop rate? Not even close. From my experience, tails have a 0.1% drop rate at best. I'm trying to farm them, but even after taking down dozens upon dozens of them, I have yet to find even a single one. Either your source of information is wrong or I currently hold the record for the worst RNG in human history. EDIT: After further attempts, it seems I really was just getting ridiculously unlucky.
