Dave... where did you get the engine stand and that fancy jack to remove the engine? Love the videos, just picked up my first Corvair and these videos are a great help.

Easier way. Disconnect everything as mentioned . Then pull whee.s and unbolt axles and pull them free of the differential. Loosen engine and trans ion mounts. place dolly under engine and slowly lower car until engine rests on dolly. Adjust car jack so engine mounting bolts turn freely. These can then be safely removed by hand. Finally jack car up until engine-differential-transmission assembly safely clears car frame. Best to have removed air cleaner to avoid having to jack car higher than necessary. Finally just roll engine dolly out from under car. I have done this twince with no real problem. A note of caution: Be sure to reconnect ground straps when reinstalling motor. I forgot to do this once and heard a loud bang when trying to restart car. With the normal engine ground left disconnected, the system found that the emergency break cable

The emergency brake cable was the only return path to the battery, but it could not handle the current and promptly failed.

Note, the emergency brake had been set so it released with a bang when the he cable fried. Sorry for the fragmented comments. My finger hit wrong area of iPad screen a couple of times.

Your easier Way is a harder way, jacking the car up and down to remove the engine is not easier, using my GM power pack jack is easier like in the vid, I have done this 100's of times for 45 years, you have done it twice, Also, its much easier to clean the power pack top and bottom once its out of the car, you bust more Knuckles trying to clean it in the car. :)

@@davemotohead1 … As I type I am removing the engine / trans from a Corvan 95. Been in the car business for 50 years and this is my first attempt on a Corvair. Will be using an engine crane to lower the assembly onto a furniture dolly, then roll it out. After some careful calculations of the engine height plus the dolly I have the rear bumper around 28 inches off the floor.

had trouble removing drive axle shafts - took 3/4' steel pipe (3') & 3/4" (2') all thread with nut & washers to make a jack to spread rear wheels to remove tension on axle shafts to remove 2 universal joints. This also allowed to remove tension of the stabilizer bars at the trans housing. FYI to Dave motohead1

Dave, did you ever get around to making that EM video? I have a 64 that leaks like crazy. Thinking it should probably come out to do the job right

Final comment. Degrease.engine before removing it. This will avoid a lot of hassles and busted knuckles.
