This is the problem none of you understand. It doesnt matter about how far it sags... it matters about the axles. Each axle has a rated payload. Each vehicle has a GVWR.. subtract your truck weight from the gvwr and you get the payload capacity. The sticker on the door should also tell you axle load rating. So if your truck says 1.2 ton it means it can hold 1000 lbs. 1 ton is 2000.. adding spring stiffners and such doesnt do anything to the axle load rating

I use to work for home Depot. People's mentality is, if it fits it's fine. We would have people sign waivers if it was unsafe and they insisted on loading it anyway. The best one was a guys axle snapped before he got out of the parking lot.

If it fits, it ships! I've had more than a ton in my old 1986 Jeep J10 pickup. Both axles were down on the bump stops.

Try that with a new f250. The old 250s will haul a lot more than the new. I had a 1999, 2002, and 2016. The 16 couldn't come close to hauling what I had on the 99 and 02. The old ones were trucks. The new ones are more of a car.

I have the same year, model, reg cab, long bed. My title says 4800lbs. Gvwr is 8800. Not sure what the actual empty weight is, need to get weighed. It might be low 5k, so 4000 payload is really not that far off.

Many places in my area must have partnered with Toyota and they wouldn’t load a truck with more than the rated, 1/2,/3/4,or 1 ton. They loaded tundras with what ever material was purchased until an axel broke and they got sued on a blown engine for loading without asking. Now, most places will make you do multiple trips or get delivery. It’s ok

Would an F350 be more heavy duty than this F250 super duty? I thought only F350 were super duty. Reason I wan to know because I have access to an F350 older truck maybe 10 years with a dump box and I wonder if 4000 pounds is ok for it for short trips.
@rustybrowneye

Ford introduced to the super duty name in 1999 on F250s and above when they introduced this body style. And yes an F-350 is very very similar to a 250. I believe they even have the same axles, frame and everything else. Only difference being is a little heavier Duty spring to carry more weight. if it's a dual rear wheel then its even more hevy duty 4000 lb i would be okay with it. Really just check the sticker on the door and see what it's rated to carry. That'll give you a good idea if you care about the legality of it if. Although we all know trucks can carry a bit more than what the sticker says but it won't be legal. What I did here was not legal although the truck handle that okay it's not something I'd like to do all the time
