Incorporating soft aspects to their songs is what sets loathe miles apart from other metal bands. its a contrast which makes the song sound more like a story with a question and answer while also making the heavy parts sound ultra heavy.

@@Ensource i have. however the initial comment goes in a different Direction and mentions contrasts within songs. Don't get me wrong, i really like Deftones and also really like loathe, it wasn't a criticism. loathe is indeed different, more complex and in my opinion they are better musicians but i think it's fair to say they're heavily Deftones inspired. And that Deftones also master this thing of successfully combining soft and melodic elements with heavy and agressive ones with a certain uniqueness to it. in this aspect they're bands with a same sort of personality.

Not even a minute in and they're speaking facts. So much of metal is based off of trends of how music is played in their genres, it's copied and pasted and doesn't have a tendency to evolve or turn into anything else. Most metal fans abide by these rules too, they go ballistic when their favourite metal band changes their sound. These are real musicians speaking and I love them for it. Love how they express their band as a collective entity of them all, how their music is created and evolves with emotion and isn't just a brand name and band that tries desperately to maintain an edgy and generic sound and image. Loathe is as genuine as a band that you'll get in the spectrum of metal these days. So excited for the future for these dudes.

I’m so glad they found their writing style and freedom of expression somewhat early on. Lots of bands have tried later on after sticking to what their label or fans expected for a while and were hit with lots of backlash. I’m not saying they didn’t get that but it’s nice that very early on they said “this is us, we write what we want and what expresses us. Take it or leave it” and it gained a lot of respect and actually opened my eyes to a genre I love but didn’t know until they showed inspiration from it

The contrast of music styles they are able to achieve on I Let it In still blows me away and it all flows together perfectly. Hope these guys keep making music for a long time.

These guys helped me through the job that I hated the most. Three years of them being my most played band. I still beat the trash out of I Let It In. I love their hard sound, I love their softer sound. But I respect their dedication and courage to just write whatever the hell they like and let the people that relate to them respond. Because in the end of the day, for music, that's what matters, right? They Literally let me in. And I will take everything the give me. Everytime. Thank you.

These gents are absolutely wonderful and I can't wait to see what they put out next. Their art so far has been some of the best metal of the decade.
