Loblolly Bay (gordonia lasianthus) and Red Bay (persea borbonia) both grow in coastal regions of the southeastern US. I am a little worried because we have a 9°F / -12°C arctic blast forecasted for next week.
Also a look at some other species that are a bit experimental:
"Dorothy Wycoff" Andromeda (pieris japonica)
Florida Anise (illicium floridanum)
Coastal Dog Hobble (leucothoe axillaris)
Wheel Tree (trochodendron aralioides)
"Teton" Firethorn (pyracantha coccinea)
"araucarioides" Japanese Cedar (cryptomeria japonica)
"Fortune's" hybrid osmanthus (osmanthus fragrans x heterophylla)
"Liberty" Holly (ilex latifolia x cornuta)
Yaupon Holly (ilex vomitoria)
Inkberry Holly (ilex glabra)
"Screenplay" Holly (ilex latifolia x integra)
"Centennial girl" Holly (ilex cornuta x centrochinensis)
Portuguese Laurel (prunus lusitanica)
