Today we went on the pm 1/2 day on the Sum Fun out of Dana Wharf Sportfishing. We struggled to keep away from the mackerel and barracuda throughout the trip which made it harder to hook bass. We still managed to catch some decent bass and barracuda and also met some cool subscribers. Thanks for watching!
The first few stops only produced about 5-10 bass for the whole boat and the macks were swarming us. We decided to have some fun and threw a Whopper Plopper topwater lure and got some insane blowups on macks and cudas, and even a calico bass. We then moved south and fished some thicker kelp beds. They still had heavy mackerel schools but we managed to catch 5 calico bass, 2 being legal.
