Dang AJ! Not one, but two big gators. That pike is gonna be hard to beat.... you may have to turn to Musky to get a fish longer than that in this state.

Yea man! I feel bad that was my buddy’s net and it’s a $300 net so hopefully he can repair it. I don’t ever expect to catch fish this size so i don’t have a net for them.

Man, that looks like a Great Lake to fish. Giant trout and pike in the same place would be so cool.
@MountainStateAngler

Right! It wasn’t suppose to be like this. Someone illegally stocked the lake with Pike, and it has been a good thing there. The pike each the stocked trout from Game and Wildlife which is isn’t too bad because the existing trout in there have been able to have good food and not be our competed by the 9 inch stockers. Can’t wait till it opens again next year!

If that was really a 44" pike, you passed the state record for "fish by length" which is only valid by catch and release, since the state record "weight" pike was not released, the "length" record is 38.5"

I usually don’t I’ve been pushing my luck for a few years now and have one had one like cut me off. When I use a leader with any sort of thick line or wire. I can’t buy a bite. I have been thinking about 60lb mono as a leader doing some research that may be enough to withstand a Pikes teeth mark.
