This episode got a lot wrong about saunas... Hot air goes up and cold air goes down. This is why it is somewhat cold on the floor level. This is why the sitting area often look like stairs. People can move up or down to adjust the heat that they experience. Saunas are normally well ventilated, got a gap at the bottom of the door, no locks for a reason (more in case of a fire than heat). Many also got glass doors today :) Strange smells is because somehing else than water ends up on the heater. Typically sodas and beer... old/classic/better heaters uses wood and fire. Hair + fire, i bet more than one person had to much sauna beer and managed to get a new haircut xD This is hot air with x humidity so 100 degrees is not the same experience as boiling water, physics. In sweden and many countries, temeraures are rated something like this: 60-75 children 70-80 beginners 80-90 normal 90+ hot A sauba with dry air is worse than a humid sauna. I typically bath in a 100+ humid sauna and cannot even enter some finish saunas. The thing with the competition happened because there was some issue with the competitor that died. Finland overreacted a bit because it became international news and many foreigners doesn't understand saunas... Oh, many saunas from hot countries are very different. Have tried a Turkish and Japanese sauna, they are very humid and not very hot. It makes you sweat even faster and is very nice after a hot day outside

@@jonathanwilliams1065 Well, it's not like you're submerged in a boiling water. You don't boil in a 100 decrees in Celsius, when it's the air temperature. We even throw water to the hot rocks for steam, but you don't boil, unless you make too much steam by throwing too much water to the scalding hot rocks. Sometimes the sauna is heated up 120 decrees in Celsius and you'll live it. But not everyone can sit in the sauna at those temperatures, not for long anyway. I've used to high temperatures, I was 6 months old when I was first time in Sauna and ever since I've had bath in Sauna regularly for 36 years. Like at least 2 times a week, some times every night in a week. Usually I stay 20 mins to 30 mins in 100 decrees and go take a breath in a cool shower. My kid, he doesn't stay as long yet. He comes for 5 to 10 minutes to the heat and then leaves.

false information because a sauna needs cold water to fuel it for the steam
