I really like your cabin, I have had many cabins like yours in the remote areas of Alaska. Now that I am 74 and retired, I live in a fairly nice cabin off grid of course and I still have a remote cabin that I go to as well. You have an exceptional view and your food looked mighty tasty. Thanks for sharing.

Iam 67 and I wished I would have build a cabin I always wanted to but time caught up with me now I love watching everyone's videos. It's just like Iam there oh how I wish. Number one thing I would do when I got to the cabin would be make a 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 fire. Then get a cup of coffee in just take it all In. By the way great video. Keep on keeping on

Good stuff! I was most jealous with the food and that pot of morning coffee. Percolated! I don't know if it ever gets so crazy cold that wood stove can't keep up, but if so, Just insulate your Rafters well and put some thin plywood to hold it all up. It would make big difference on the FRIGID nights! Just make sure it can breathe above and not trap moisture, especially in Summer. In spirit, I stole some Chili and shredded Moose! LOL. YUM!

I live on the outskirts of the city. Our power was out for 9 days. I broke out our fondue pot. I put water in it and a candle underneath of it and had boiling water pretty quickly. Now a few of my friends bought one in case of a power outage again. Candles are dirt cheap here. You would be surprised what you can do , even without propane. Everyone laughed at me at first. I took another small pot and put in 3 cans of pork n beans. I put in ketchup and some brown sugar and a small diced up vidalia sweet onion. I made baked beans for dinner. We had hot dogs roasted on a small fire and beans. It was delicious and fun. Also, and this involves technology, instead of reading a book, we sat around in the evening and played some audio tapes. Everyone got to hear and follow along. It was so hot inside our house, I closed the doors and windows to keep the hot air out. I got a small 2x2 and stapled an old sheet to it. Then I screwed it on the ceiling with 3 small screws. Oh, I had doubled the sheet when I stapled it on the board. I took a piece of fishing line and sewed it over the board and made a loop. I went to the other side of the living room and pulled it and let it go, pulled it and let it go... it provided a mini breeze and made the evening more comfortable. I had an 80 year old mom and 85 yr old aunt with me so they would not be alone during the power outage. The fondue pot kept them in hot coffee. Lastly, ( I talk a lot), save your used vegetable oil. Did you see all that kindling he just chopped up in the video? Get an old five gallon bucket with a lid. Fill it with kindling. Now pour your left over french fry oil in it after it is cooled. When you need to go make a fire, pull out a few of those sticks and they light right away and start a nice fire. It saves quite a few minutes when you are cold and wanting a fire to get going.
