Absolutely beautiful melodic solo in the intro; demonstrates how fluid your fretboard knowledge/visualisation is. I hope to be there one day... Only discovered you recently, but in comparison to many of what I consider to be great instructors on YT, your teaching style is certainly one of the clearest and and well presented I have ever seen. Thank you for what you do (for free) to make this world a more musical place. Much appreciated; another subscriber/follower gained. Wish you all the best for the future!

Just love your approach and your melodic playing. Great info, a lot to absorb. Fortunately I have great fretboard and theory knowledge and understand what your saying. Chord substitution (pretend chord), a great way to help players understand this concept as opposed to the way I studied it years ago. It seemed daunting back then. You make it sound easy, and it is, especially with you teaching it this way. Great stuff. I’m liking and sharing all you videos as I go through them👍

Thanks for the comment! It's much easier when you know the fretboard, unfortunately something so many people don't take the time to learn. Hopefully I can change that and bring people over to the dark side of knowing all of the damn notes!

Random Idea, what if you did a 42 minute livestream yourself doing a guitar playthrough of the entire Rise album. Would be EPIC. If that doesn't go viral the the world has no soul.

A deeper dive into stairway to heaven or perhaps that Pink Floyd album that Johnny Fever was playing on that WKRP episode that a friend of mine owned. I think it's called animals. If you are rhythmically inclined, it could amount to a bazillion songs. That push the absolute boundaries of guitar. If you could hold the pick straighter and closer to the tip you could even be God.

Do you memorize and apply the numbers to every chord in the key in relation to the tonic chord? Like if youre playing Am in the key of G would you think "this is the 2 4 6 of the key of G" or would you play thinking "this is the 1 3 5 of the Am scale" I guess you would still be playing in the same key either way but I want to know what you do since u are better at guitar than me haha. I also want to make sure im understanding the concept properly.
@clbf6006
Жыл бұрын
P.S I was wrong you are in a different key if you think of Am as 1 3 5 in that scenario
@LoGsounds
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. Yes, I'll think about the 1 b3 5 of A minor also being the 2 4 6 of the key, G in your example. I will also think about what the 1 b3 5 of Am is over every other chord in that key too, for example those notes are also 5 b7 2 of D major (the 5 chord in this key), or b3 b5 b7 of F#min7b5 (7 chord of the key) Obviously not all the time, but when other sounds like these are happening I'm definitely passively thinking about the relationships.

I look at everything from Major diatonic and minor pentatonic. A minor scale is nothing more than the sixth mode Aeolian from a minor chord perspective. Everything else just seems to be a lot of useless information. If you learn all your scales from any position, your ears are going to take you there. I have yet to figure out every chord I have learned from that perspective. Music is about sound, not inversions. I learn inversions as my ears figure them out. Other than that, I think the only true chords to learn are Maj. minor, Dominant, half diminished, diminished and Augmented. If I was going to learn any inversions, those are the ones that I would focus on. Everything thing else is color tones in chord voicings.

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, sorry the video wasn't effective for you, and I mean no offense with this reply . I make these videos in the style I do to simple relay the information I think is valuable in a way that makes sense. I can't think about the skill level of every possible viewer and what it takes for the information to sink in, as that isn't feasible. It's impossible for me to figure out what to say or how I say it, or how long I should be saying it to make it sink in for the player, unless I'm in a room with them and understand their process on an individual level. I'm assuming if people want to work on something, they'll pause the video, work on it, resume the video. If I spent a bunch of time repeating concepts, these videos might work for some but would be bloated and boring for others.
