I took a Logan framing class years ago and the instructor gave us a tip of lightly spraying the backing paper with a water mist before cutting. The moisture would not affect the art, and when the paper dried, it would shrink a bit and pull the backing paper very tight.
@LoganGraphic
4 жыл бұрын
Yes that is true. You could either slightly dampen the backing paper before or after its applied to the back of the frame and let it naturally air dry. Or speed up the process with a hair dryer. Either way, this will shrink the paper a bit so its very tight and flat on the back of the frame. Some framers skip the water and just use a hair dryer and get a similar effect. I hope you enjoyed the framing class.

I purchased this FIVE YEARS AGO and today used it for the first time! But other than this I'm not much of a procrastinator ha ha ha...anyway... I framed a 150 year old copper plate engraving. I am VERY VERY happy with this device! It is VERY well made, it is AMERICAN MADE, and it therefore works like a charm. I am so happy to see that quality products like this can still be had. I am so happy I bought this! I have dozens of steel plate and other engravings I will be framing! Logan, you guys are the best! I see you are a family business - God Bless you all! 100 stars!

Hello. You will need to find oversize mountboard for this. Crescent Cardboard does offer some mount board in sizes up to 102 cm x 152 cm however that is not quite the size you need for 200 cm. I have seen where a framer will make opposite bevel cuts across the mount board so two separate pieces can merge together and be secured with framing tape on the back. But that may still leave a visible seam. You might post this question on a picture framer forum like www.thegrumble.com Good luck.

Why doesn't anyone use the spray adhesive for this purpose anymore?
@LoganGraphic
4 жыл бұрын
Hi, You certainly can use a spray adhesive or even dry mount the art onto foam board if you like. However that permanently changes the art with a process that cannot be undone. T-hinge mounting is a safe, acid free mounting that can be removed restoring the art to its exact original state. Thanks.

Peter Gašperan Yes sir many years ago photos and paintings were hung using cord or wire as shown in the video. It’s common today to use those single hooks on prints and photos. What one uses to hang a nice photo or art is a matter of personal preference or $$$. 😎

@@khunthate wire is used on larger frames. That way you can use 2 hooks on the wall to support the weight of the artwork.

No tape no tape on any artwork! Use corners to apply to mat board ! Nothing should be stuck to the artwork at all PLEASE be professional as when your protecting a book , never never put tape on a book. It devalues the book and the artwork and very hard to restore✨❣️
@LoganGraphic

Hello and thank you for the comment. What we are doing here is teaching basic mounting for at home artists, photographers and crafters etc. Not professional framers. Typically the art they are matting and mounting is not highly valuable or museum pieces and standard t-hinge mounting with a proper linen hinging tape is fine. It's acid free, allows the art to hang naturally and prevent buckling and can be removed at a later date for re-mounting. Mounting corners are surely an option also and so is water activated hinging tape which can be moistened slightly years later and easily removed also.
