Hey Captain...Absolutely love the Dry Tortugas series...I would like to make that a destination if we can swing it with fuel capacity, etc. I am currently setting up a NEMA 2000 network for our new electronics and we are currently having a new AC unit installed in our Rinker Fiesta Vee 270. I talked to the installer about different options for you and your Crooked Pilothouse Boat. There are 12 Volt and 120 Volt systems that can run off of Lithium batteries while you are moored for the night and also run off of your engine power while it is on (like a car AC unit), as well as 120 Volt systems that would run off of your generator. I know you have a generator and window shaker unit now but this is something to think about for the future (possibly). Just thought I would throw it out there. Everything you have is top of the line and why should your Marine AC system be any different! -Mike

Awesome trip Cap! I’m fortunate to have visited the island and it has great snorkeling. You also show the positives of having a smaller boat - bigger isn’t always better if you use common sense. The gas savings, the ability to get into smaller places is what it’s all about. A well equipped smaller boat (21 to 25 feet) with a knowledgeable captain is as safe as a bigger boat not geared right, as you saw during the storm.

Visited there 8 times in our 41 ft. Sailboat in '80's and '90's. You could anchor in sand west of Loggerhead and you could climb the lighthouse and clearly see "Africa" shaped reef.
