I bought a few of these during the last couple of years. Logic Pro, Davinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro. On every keyboard there are multiple keys that have stopped working. Mostly already after a few months of daily use. So, quality isn’t really that great...

very nice! if the price was around 50$ i would sure buy it! but 150$ is way too much for a keyboard with different types on the buttons. sure if you are a pro then your workflow would be faster, but for an amateur like me it’s too expensive. btw Josh you are the best!

Keep in mind, there’s no way to lock the fn key functions. Volume up/down, brightness etc always need the fn key to access. Minor perhaps but not so pleasant. After contact with Logickeyboard, they say its the design team’s choice as other programs like Premiere have shortcuts in the F1, F2 etc. area so the kb is locked to the Function keys. This can not be adjusted in the preferences. In fact the Astra type Logic kb is more like a ‘standard’ kb with a Logic print.

Hoping that you will do a Logic review on one of the new M1 Macs... there are plenty of YT videos appearing related to FCP performance, but have only come across a couple of Logic oriented ones both of which looked somewhat flawed in their methodology. Granted that there will probably be few third party plugins optimised for the M1 architecture, and it will, as usual, be while before some of these to catch up with the current state of the OS, and the physical architecture. But would be good to see the opinion of someone who has a thorough knowledge of Logic, and can provide a well thought out review of what to expect in the new world of M series Macs.

Great video! Were you using the ASTRA V.1, or the ASTRA V.2 for this review? Is there much difference between them? I notice from their site that a skin isn't available for the V.2 version. I wonder if they'll have that at a later date.

Be careful if you buy a keyboard or keyboard skin for Logic Pro. Many of the skins that are currently being sold are out of date. Specifically, the keys for tool selection are on the number keys instead of letters. This is a change that happened back around Logic 10.2 several years ago.
@MusicTechHelpGuy

This is not the case with the keyboard in this video.The shortcuts for the tools are correct. You press T, then press the corresponding tool shortcut; shown on the keyboard. Good to keep in mind for outdated keyboards though.

@@shineDeluxe I personally liked a DAS keyboard, but there’s tons of quality keyboards on the market. They have gotten lower in price, Massdrop ships tons of them out. Lots of brands that feel nice. I would stay way from RGB since the key caps you change won’t be illuminated (unless you lay extra. You can also have a mousepad with all the shortcuts or a paper in front of you to help remind again) Send me your DAW and I’ll send you a store place for your custom key caps.

Fantastic video you're content is always on the money. I wonder if you can help me with a problem regarding SSD external hard drives. As I'm new to the computer side of things and logic for that matter. The problem is, I'm finding it hard to workout what I need, as far as I know I'll need a 2Tb drive for any library sounds and anything vocally I record then one for project's and a third for the time machine that would be a 2tb and 1tb for the time machine. The thing is i don't know what drives would be best and would work well with the iMac and you please advise. Oh one more thing, I have also a UAD x6 what happens with the plugins at you get with the x6 would they be downloaded and placed in one of the external ssd hard drives or on the computer its self. Thank you in advance 👍😎

I ran Into your post and realized it’s a question I’ll be confronted with eventually as I expand my own system with storage space. I think linked video kind of puts it visually what you might want to accomplish. I’m currently running all production on one large drive with a secondary hard drive for time machine. I’m at the point of doing more audio composing as opposed to using apples sound library for composition . I think this video should point you in the right direction...👍🏾🙏🏻🙏🏾🙏🏿😁 kzitem.info/news/bejne/2nqInJuXiIKmg6Q
