i might have to update macos so i can try this out, i wanna try it on a bus feeding back into itself and see what cool glitches i can make with that. it sounds like it has a lot of latency but maybe with a short length that could be not too annoying

Beat Breaker is definitely capable of some amazing things. There are some excellent features in Logic 11 so, when the time is right for you, I think you'll enjoy upgrading.

Despite the fact that I am currently using Version 10.6.1 of Logic Pro X on a vintage 27-inch (Late 2013) iMac with modest macOS Catalina, I have watched this delightful and fun video with great enthusiasm. Thanks again Jono. You are doing a wonderful job. Take care and keep up the good work!.. :)

The good stuff Jono. I think that it'd be great if they'd added a 'trigger-probability' to each step so that an individual pattern could subtly alter each time it ran -but they didn't, so it can't. :)
@jonobuchananmusic

They didn't indeed - not yet. But that's an excellent idea for BeatBreaker's development. I think the randomisation possibilities available in the Pattern Region Editor suggest that there's a good chance BeatBreaker will evolve along similar lines. Fingers crossed. Loving your Instagram, by the way. Amazing and beautiful work.

Hi Jono, thank you for these tutorials! Is there a way to make all audio (or midi) in the same key? In production process id like to audition different patterns of bass for example, but I bring them from previous projects all in different keys? Otherwise I need to transpose everything manually.
@jonobuchananmusic
8 ай бұрын
Good question. To the best of my knowledge, there's no automatic key detector option when you import a MIDI clip or audio file. I think the best option for you will be to add the music files (both Audio and MIDI) to the Apple Loop library. Here, each one can be tagged with key and tempo information, meaning that when you import each file, it can conform to the key (or chord) of your current project. So you'll get the result you want, but you will have to spend some time tagging and creating that database of clips in advance. I hope that helps.

am i the only person thinking that plugin is awfully designed and not intuitive at all? theres so many similar ones out there and they managed to make the most clunky version of it :( gross beat from wish basically lol. great video presentation though

Hi. I actually like the design of Beat Breaker but I agree that it's perhaps not quite as intuitive as it might be. That said, I do think the Volume and Repeat panes are pretty self-explanatory and it's mostly the complexity of Time page which requires some thought. The bigger thing for me is that the porting of this plug-in from iOS means that the amount of mouse work required to create the lines you might want isn't as smooth as it could be. Perhaps the design and its tactility will be updated (in time) together? Thanks for your kind words about the video!

@@jonobuchananmusic I was wondering the same since the iOS version has been the “test ground” for features later added to the Mac version. I’m hoping it will get some improvements over time, same with the mastering assistant and Alchemy Sampler. Such great features!

@adamlarsson5424

and it isnt helping with the 100 % de clicking
@jonobuchananmusic
3 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear that, Adam. A few things could cause that, depending on the type of material you're Beat Breaking. But I wonder if it's a I/O Buffer Size issue. The faster the processor is set, the less time it has for processing and this can lead to the introduction of artifacts. Head to Logic Pro > Settings > Audio and turn the I/O Buffer size up to maximum, just to test whether that gets rid of the clicks and pops. If it does, make the buffer size lower and keep dropping it until it's at its lowest possible setting without re-introducing the clicks. I hope that fixes it for you.

At first, Beat Breaker feels like overkill and chaos, but you’ve demonstrated ways to be more nuanced with it. As always, an excellent presentation. I’m going to experiment with my Moog Matriarch with more stretched out effects from Beat Breaker. Could be interesting. Thanks, Jono! Cheers.

@@jonobuchananmusic I recorded a simple 2-bar sequence and beat tracked it so BB could also track it. The Gate presets are fun. One pattern anticipated the downbeat on every other cycle of BB - it was a nice groove. Next I'm going to experiment with playing the Matriarch live so I can mess with filter sweeps etc. while BB does its thing - if that's even possible . . .
