this video is great for showing how to set up recording, but I am looking for a video on managing multiple takes and the practices involved in comping. you get to that stuff at the very end and its not really addressed

Yeah, fair enough. I’ve been wanting to make a dedicated comping/editing video. I’ll be sure to do that in the coming weeks!

Hey Wilson.. Any further explanation/ insights on why I'd create a D.I. track as well as the Effected ( Helix/ Thu/ etc) I see other producers doing same thing with guitars... 2 tracks d.i. and effected. Thanks this was helpful.

Hey Andrew! I usually like to use a DI just in case I need to change the guitar tone later, like when mixing. Or if I’m not the one mixing it, I like to deliver the DI as an option in case the mixing engineer doesn’t like my tones 😊

Ok so here's the Question. I have an external keyboard that I'm using to record into logic....I create the mic/line channel and I can hear it, I create another audio channel below it and place a logic audio loop into that channel click the loop button so that I will loop but for some reason when I have the loop audio going I lose sound on the keyboard. I can't hear it at all. when I stop the loop, the audio of the external keyboard comes back. Am I setting something up incorrectly?

Ahhh, I know what’s going on here. Logic has this weird quirk that I haven’t found a workaround for. If you have a channel armed for recording and hit play, you won’t hear the audio that you input into the channel. You either need to just hit record while you play your keyboard over the loop, or turn off the record arm and hit play. Input monitoring can stay on for either of these options. Hope that helps!

I've been trying to record guitar with the signal split to two mono outputs and various pedals. When I try to input these two mono signals into logic as input 1 and input 2 I can only get one or the other, but not both at the same time. I've tried creating an aggregate input but that didn't work either.

That’s odd. What interface are you using?

@@woodyardmusic I'm running one USB cable from a Boss Katana Go to one of the USB inputs on my MacBook. I'm running a separate USB cable from a Fender Mustang GTX100 to a different USB input on my MacBook. Logic can't seem to recognize the katana and mustang inputs simultaneously, even if I combine the two into a single aggregate input.

@@trailingupwards I think the only way to get that to work would be with an aggregate device. I would double check the routing for your aggregate device, it might not be 1 and 2

I’d start by restarting logic and your interface, then change your audio device to something else like “built-in microphone” then back to your interface. Also if your interface requires drivers/software, make sure that’s updated
