This week, I’m putting the Note Repeater MIDI FX plug-in under the microscope, to see what it can offer when our programmed sequences are feeling a little flat and dull. Unlike a regular Echo effect, Note Repeater actually triggers repeats of MIDI events, allowing us to offset the Velocities and the Transposition steps of each repeat. As a result, it’s capable of making things hookier and more dynamic.
In this video, I’ll show you that you’ll need to open a Drum Machine Designer Track Stack to add any MIDI Effect, before hearing the results on a Kick Drum pattern. Then we’ll move on to working with Basslines and Melodic Hooks, in tandem with Note Repeater. Here is a quick and straightforward way to inject a little more mix interest.
