Excellent video on this very important topic. I have found that the Jesus Prayer is a potent weapon against the Logisme and my spiritual father recommended it to me and it truly works for me. The prayer is like dousing a dumpster fire with high pressure water from a huge fire truck. The internet throws up garbage all the time even if a person is very careful to avoid garbage. This gives Satan plenty of opportunities to attack us.

90% of Lust comes from the eyes , 10% are thoughts/ideas , deep down its a need for intimacy and self-love , touching it only makes it worse , read long prayer (30 min.) , avoid social media during Lent (Instagram especially can serve as a "Gateway") , Always remember that arousal is temporary and shorter then you think (Cold Showers definitely help ) .

Those “blasphemous thoughts without intent” is a symptom of religiously based Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I suffer from the same affliction as the user you mentioned. I’ve been assured that it is not sin, because I don’t mean it. It is an “intrusive thought”. The demons want us to believe they are thoughts with hidden, subconscious intent. To anyone suffering from this, please seek an OCD specialist to treat this affliction and also speak to a priest for spiritual guidance. No one with OCD only has intrusive thoughts, rituals, and avoidance about blasphemy. We worry about other things too. Doctors and priests (doctors of the Church) can work in tandem and are both healers in different ways. Thank you for making this video to console him from a spiritual standpoint as I wish I had someone to do the same for me when this first happened to me.

I didn't know that this version of OCD existed, thank you for enlightening me. I have had these types of thoughts from Grade 4 to now, so it has been a while. I have consoled with my priest and know I understand from both his and Boyan's stand point about this. I do hope you are going much better now in this version of OCD, God protect you and those you love. And yes, he has consoled me well about this and other matters for a while now.

I actually have autism and it's a weird thing to be dealing with in tandem with the spiritual life. It really sucks to read the part of my evening prayers about being sorry for having my thoughts wander onto useless things during prayer when it happens constantly and without me wanting to, not because I think God is angry at me for being ADHD or something, but because I wish I could stop doing it. Some days are better than others, I do also get blasphemous thoughts very often in the way you described. Praying about it has helped quite a bit for me, thank God.

OCD is not the only explanation for blasphemous thoughts. In fact I think it's an unlikely explanation because blasphemous thoughts, especially during prayer, are an extensively documented phenomenon in the life of the Church. Nearly every saint who teaches on prayer and the inner life deals with this issue, and they are widely recognized to be a common thing, and I have never heard the holy fathers, ancient or contemporary, recommend visiting an OCD specialist.

Hello orthodox brother, I to have OCD. Hope you get better. To be honest, there are a lot of religious fanatics in our comunity who are going to tell you this is sin, its not, and you know how the brain works and the psychology behind it. The best way to get rid of religious ocd is stopping the compulsions like praying and compulsive confessions. God loves you and God knows your an OCD sufferer with some thoughts you cant help and are NOT responsible for because they are out of your control. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, even if its the priest. Know there are a lot of people like you and your not alone. God bless you! Edit: with stopping praying I mean praying related to your OCD. Pray for real life stuff is a healthier approach to getting back to normal.

As fmayed1507 said, I too pray the Jesus Prayer everytime I get distressed, scared, lonely. It comforts me. I imagine the demon being snap away by the power of the Lord. When I broke my leg in two places in 2019, I was very fearful the night before surgery, the Jesus Prayer helped me through my fear. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me (us) a sinner.

Great video! There's a very interesting document I once read by an Orthodox bishop who compared the teaching of how the process of logismoi (stimuli) and sin (or passion) correlates to the actual psychiatric mechanism of response to stimuli in the limbic region and frontal cortex. Quite fascinating that the teaching of the fathers regarding thoughts actually can be "proven" through psychiatric analysis and that passions actually affect our physical brain. I'm obiously not making a reductio with this observation saying it's only psychology or something. Just found it interesting.

It is interesting, when looked at through a Neoplatonic lens, that "thought/mind" are understood more spiritually rather than purely intellectually (brain). From this angle, I think it isn't far off to suggest that Angels and demons are closely associated with the realm of the Platonic Forms and ultimately with _thoughts_ in the Mind of God. Not to say spiritual beings are non-personal, I think it is more accurate that mental reality is spiritual and ultimately personal (the soul). Everything got screwed up with Descartes.

in my opinion, meditation (really just awareness of the present moment, you dont have to take anything from another religion) is one of the best ways to deal with such thoughts. i have had meditation sessions (i use an app called medito, very good app) for almost a year now, and it has helped me deal with unwanted thoughts, including the logismoi. i started using the breath as the anchor for the present moment and getting rid of unwanted thoughts. do not also forget the Jesus Prayer, it is also good

There is an Agatha Christie novel about the same topic. Someone really hates someone else and wants that person dead. The object of that horrible wish ends up getting murdered by someone else. The person who dreamed about that death feels extremely guilty. Hercule Poirot (who is Catholic! Just like Agatha Christie's second hisband btw) gives the person who is struggling against huge waves of guilt the information of this video. Thoughts - even extremely bad thoughts - are not a crime. We all have bad thoughts. It was fun to see the philosophy of Agatha Christie in a KZitem video. I have come to an understanding that her books are full of religious things. That's why I read them more than once. The first time you just want to know who did it.
