I've got a ton of headphones and one of my favorites are the Monster Turbine Pro Copper's

I don't particularly like them much. The build quality is very nice, but the sound feels like something is missing and I don't like the bass in it. It just seems off or something I don't know how to explain it. The lower model sounds better in my opinion for some reason. Not because of the extra bass, but because it makes a better rhythm and it seems like a headphone most people would be used to.

I don't think I do haha but I really like the Monster turbine pro coppers. Have you heard them? They get alot if praise from the people that have them. Their not your normal "Beats" set of headphones. I think they are pretty neutral sounding. I mean sure they don't touch my HiFiMan HE-6's on my Little Dot tube amplifier but their not $2500 either.

Wow...that is crazy. I just love mine and I am pretty critical and spoiled. Maybe you have a bad one, you know as in quality control issue? I would try a new pair. I don't understand what you mean by the lower model...vPules is the only in ear headphone that velodyne makes...the other 2 are on ear (vFree) and over ear (vTrue) cans.

LOL...I knew something was messed up! I highly recommend the vPulse by velodyne! If you love bass you will be in heaven, and if you don't like bass much you will be blown away by the clean accurate sound quality and depth of sound. I have given away ALL my other ear phones!

... I know this isn't my conversation, but Turbine Pro Coppers are some of the best in terms of EDM, Electronic, rap, etc. You can't really say that such a pricy headphone such as those are bad, especially considering they really are copper.

My budget is £100 for a pair of headphones and I would like to know a great pair of bass orientated around-ear headphones. I had a pair of Sony MDR-XB700's which lately broke and hey lasted me a year so please can someone help me thanks :)

Do you wear glasses, Mike? I'm very interested in such earphones for commuting but I wear glasses so I'm wondering... Between these, on-ear and over-ear, what would be more comfy with glasses.

Use these as a hands free headset on the wheel might be dangerous since they are isolated and you can't hear ambient noises

I never got to try out the UE 900's so I went and bought the Sony XBA-4's. How would you compare the 2 and what would you rate better?
@AstroFantastica

Probably quite a late reply so not sure if you'll still be reading this.. but I've tried both. First up let me say this about the XBA-4s, they are VERY dependant on your source. Being so sensitive, I couldn't even run them from my HTC One without getting clipping at moderately loud volumes... They are extremely details phones, but I just couldn't fall in love with their sound. There just seemed to be too much of a disconnect between the range of frequencies, a little hard to explain but these sound very different to your standard dynamic drivers. Very analytical, the minor details in the music seemed a lot more prominent than they should otherwise be. Soundstage was utterly mind-blowing though for their size, I haven't heard anything quite as spacious sounding in the IEM world. Enter the UE900. While the fit was a lot harder to get sorted straight out of the box, once they were in my ears and sealed - it was love at first listen. They are so well rounded and coherent, music in general, not matter what the genre sounds absolutely fantastic. While the bass isn't too prominent (the XBA-4s had more slam), it's quite neutral and doesn't impede one bit on the sweet, sweet mid-range. Honestly anything vocal through the UE900s makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I even enjoy their sound more than my full sized, fully amped HE-400s. If there is any drawback to the UE900s it would probably be the average (ok maybe a little better than average, but not quite as wide as I'd like) soundstage.

Thank you for your reply, quite detailed and to the point. I don't have an issue with the source because my 5G iPod touch drives my XBA-4's really well. From the way you described the UE900's, it seems like I made the right choice in earphones because I like good bass impact (I love to listen to the thwack of a kick drum) and clarity as I tend to pick out as much as I can when listening to my music. I'm surprised at how you found the soundstage on the XBA-4's as I found it to be quite intimate, not that spacious, which I don't expect from IEM's anyway, I have a set of Sony MDR-1R's which have an amazing soundstage.

ZacharyT94 While the bass impact of the XBA's was better than the UE900s, the UE900s sound better in just about every way to my ears. It's just a cleaner, more musical sound with fantastic resolution. I just couldn't get the XBA-4s to sound natural. I listen to a very wide range of music, and when I want bass that kicks me in the face I switch over to my Futuresonics Atrio MG7s :) Still would be more than happy to listen to the UE900s for EDM though, they are not lacking in the bass, just less "oomph" than the MG7s.

I have a pair of the newer ue 900s and i also own a pair of xba30s although it's nt an xba 4 but I heard the sound signature are similar. I prefer the xba30s because it is a warmer and smoother sounding headphone with a good sparkle at the top end. On the 900s I have I don't really use them much because the highs are a bit too aggressive for my taste. It can sound sibilant at times resulting in a more fatiguing experience over long listening periods. But the ue900s wud be great for ppl who can stand the boosted treble.

idk maybe they changed something in new 900s, but older model 900 has no boosted treble at all. i have them since they came out on market. rly great balanced sound with nice clarity and resolution. punchy deep narrow bass, wide v-shaped soundstage, ultra fast, snares in d'n'b feel like a smack in your eardrum. I'm happy with them and ibasso dx80!
