I believe Japanese powders are subtley tinted at times as a form of color correction, so the pearl pink powder they sell at the store would be closer to a standard white/skin tone with a subtle pink tint! EDIT: I gotta say that the end result looks REALLY good on you! :)

I… learned that I am NOT going to follow the GLB for makeup, and I am going to apply makeup in a way I feel most beautiful in!! ☺️ EDIT: but I REALLY like the way that tutorial makeup looks on you!!

I never got to learn how to do makeup due to my mom basically being like "makeup is just a mask to hide your True Beauty™️" for the longest time but here I am mentally taking notes for the next time i do my makeup 😂

RIP Lor's fallen eyelash - you will be remembered. I love this video idea and would love a goth version! Also wonder if the make up looks varied from the early 2000s to when it went on hiatus, like a last vs first thing?

This is the first time I have seen you without makeup. You look really pretty without makeup. I look forward to the gothic makeup video. When I do lolita it's always gothic or spooky sweet. So I would love to see a gothic lolita makeup look. When I do a full face of makeup I do goth light/white face. I have also been thinking about doing kabuki inspired makeup. Maybe with a sharp line blush. Like a gothic kabuki version of Trixie Mattel. I still need to find a plus sized black OP for easy gothic coords. If anyone has any recommendations, let me know.

Lor, I hear you about throwing expired make-up away, but you can pry my expired eyeshadow palettes out of my cold dead hands. 😆 I’ll sanitize them periodically and try not to remember what year I bought them in 💖

Science teacher and chemist here: powder eyeshadow is fine for decades. Really. Anything that is powder-based should last for a long, long time as it is a natural dessicant and resists contamination. You need to worry more about lipstick, pot shadows, and foundations, which have oils in them that potentially can go rancid. Tools like brushes and puffs should be regularly cleaned with soap and allowed to air dry. And mascara needs to be replaced frequently, because dark + moist = breeding ground for bacteria.

Those lipsticks I was obsessed with during Covid because I could wear them under my mask without it smudging which was amazing because I missed lipstick but now I can’t stand the almost plastic feel of them but they really do stay and do not budge at all. Use an oil to take it off or you’ll damage your lips though

Biggest takeaway for me: your hair is BLONDE? What do you mean, I thought your natural hair color would be green. Also now I want to collect GLBs even more.

It's wild, I still very much use a lot of techniques I used from learning from the GLB/j fashion makeup trends from the late 00s early 10s, but I've been trying to branch out more 😅 I really want to try more experimental makeup looks w/ my coords too

Big forehead club represent! I like it, but I understand having areas of insecurity. I think your makeup turned out really cute, even if the instructions were not excellent 😅

I actually love your forehead so much! ☺❤ (I apologize for the overly long comment, but) This got me thinking how crazy it is that for example my insecurities, like the shape of my nose and eyes, many others, even who are raised culturally with very similar ideas of what ideal beauty looks like, still can find those very same features of mine really lovely and in no way in contrary to that ideal whatsoever. Could be maybe because those features might still be balanced to the proportion of that specific face as a whole and we just find balance more important than having a set perfect features anyways, or on the contrary maybe we naturally find beauty in varied, unique things like looking at the varied colors of a forest or finding that beauty in something completely exotic to us which maybe makes us more conditioned as an outside observer to find that difference beautiful (especially if the other features of that face align with our idea of beauty), but then don't judge ourselves with that same initiative because our own face becomes familiar to us and therefore looses that exoticness. In the worried individual's perspective, being able to identify yourself as part of a small group based on thigs like say color of fur in animals, it kind of makes sense to me why an individual with more awareness might then start to look at their features this critically, especially if in their lives they don't feel like they have enough resources and an reliable sufficient group they feel they belong in and is cared for by, so to then in the process of navigating that those facial differences might get overly highlighted to them. Or maybe it's none of those, and is not explainable by the past and is just something modern and cultural, since after all we didn't have a good picture what we as an individual looked like for most of our history, or maybe it's is hard exactly because it's so new to us to see ourselves this much. Who knows, but i's weird and interesting. Anyways fact remains, that doing thinking that tries to challenge and medicate those negative feelings we all as individuals have is worthwhile and trying to aim to treat ourselves and other more softly is always for the better. Insecure or not, nothing wrong with choosing to highlight which ever features you yourself value, within things like fashion and makeup and still at the same time completely loving and accepting those features that get less spotlight. Both can absolutely exist at the same time, but since for most of us it's a long and often lonely road getting there within ourselves, I just wanted to write a little note maybe challenging us all to maybe face some of our personal insecurities and cheer us to keep doing that important work , also to take a moment to sort of celebrate everyone's individual silent hard work. You rock! We rock! Keep going!
