The Elizabeth line (Originally Crossrail) is the first mainline rail line in the UK to use platform screen doors. The line fully opened in early 2022 but was known as TFL rail before this date and operated on the current route excluding the underground section. The full route is 117 kilometers long (73 miles) with the majority being on existing intercity rail infrastructure. The rolling stock consists of Class 345 trains which are similar to the Class 720 trains used on many other National Rail and the 710s on the Overground services. Some differences are the purple and white livery as well as the longitudinal seating layout. Fares are integrated with the rest of the TFL network within the fare zones. Outside of the fare zones the price of a single ticket can vary depending on the trip length. This rail line is similar to other word class European regional rail systems such as German S-Bahn or French RER systems. It also provides an amazing connection between central London and Heathrow Airport. I fully recommend taking this line to get around London as it is definitely the fastest way to get around is super reliable. Enjoy the video :)
