In this video, walk with me to some of London's most famous monuments. I travelled from Tube train and got down at Liverpool station and then rided buses, walked to capture:
Saint Paul's Cathedral:
The cathedral is one of the most famous and recognisable sights of London. Its dome, surrounded by the spires of Wren's City churches, has dominated the skyline for over 300 years. At 365 ft (111 m) high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1963. The dome is still one of the highest in the world.
Tower Bridge:
Tower Bridge will transport you to Victorian times, telling the story of London's defining landmark from the very beginning. Tower Bridge was officially opened on 30 June 1894. The bridge is 800 feet (240 m) in length with two towers each 213 feet (65 m) high, built on piers. Tower Bridge is still a busy crossing of the Thames, used by more than 40,000 people (motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians) every day. The nearest London Underground tube stations to Tower Bridge are Tower Hill on the Circle and District lines, London Bridge on the Jubilee and Northern lines and Bermondsey on the Jubilee line, and the nearest Docklands Light Railway station is Tower Gateway. The nearest National Rail stations are at Fenchurch Street and London Bridge.
Palace of Westminster/ House Of Parliament/Big Ben:
The Palace of Westminster is the meeting place of the Parliament of the United Kingdom and is located in London, England. It is commonly called the Houses of Parliament after the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the two legislative chambers which occupy the building. At the north end of the palace is the Elizabeth Tower, commonly known as Big Ben. It was called the Clock Tower until 2012, when it was renamed to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II.
Royal Courts of Justice:
The Royal Courts of Justice, commonly called the Law Courts, is a court building in Westminster which houses the High Court and Court of Appeal of England and Wales.
King's College London:
King's College London (informally King's or KCL) is a public research university located in London, England. King's was established by royal charter in 1829 under the patronage of King George IV and the Duke of Wellington. In 1836, King's became one of the two founding colleges of the University of London. It is one of the oldest university-level institutions in England.
