@23:53 (& 16:50) Am I missing something? Black *Rook h8* has no role to play in the exchange (h7), because it gets no chance: 1. (w) *Bishop d3 to g6* (black *Rook h8 to h7* would be instant loss of Rook by *Bg6xRh7* ) 2. if (b) *pawn f7* takes *Bishop g6, Queen h5* takes *pawn g6,* check 3. (b) *Bishop e6* forced to *f7* to defend 4. (w) *Queen g6* takes *Bishop f7,* checkmate ... 2. if (b) *pawn f7* doesn't take (w) *Bishop g6,* but does something else (like an attempt to open path for *King e8* by moving *Bishop f8 to g7* ) 3. (w) *Bishop g6* takes (b) *pawn f7,* check 4. (b) *Bishop e6* forced to take (w) *Bishop f7* 5. (w) *Queen h5* takes (black) *Bishop f7,* checkmate ... 2. if (b) Rook h8 to h7, 3. (w) Bishop g6 takes (b) Rook h7 4. ... Sorry for spelling things out instead of shorthand notation, still like words - and for the benefit of others whose eyes may glaze over like mine when tired and sleepy (like right now), when they just see rows of "Bg6 xg6 Qxg6 Bf7 Qxf7" &c.

17:02 why not bishop g6 take back with queen then he would be forced to block with bishop and you could take back with queen protected by the knight?

22:00 the blunder was Qxh4. There was a better capture of Qxd5. Probably because it takes a center pawn for free and makes 2 threats: pointing your queen at the undefended b pawn and the always weak f7 square. I don't think you considered Qxd5 because you'd likely lose a tempo or 2 while Black tries to attack your Queen in the center of the board. The engine doesn't seem to offer a potential line past a few moves so im not sure letting Black grab more space with the flank pawns is a good idea.

Thanks for all your chess videos. I really enjoy them. I worked with a bunch of Romanians in my old job and picked up a lot of the language. Ce mai faci? In game 3 you advanced the pawn to H4, couldn't he take it with the bishop since it is defended by the queen and if the rook takes he wins an exchange? Maybe there is a trap for his queen on H4?

Hello Alex, I just bought your london system chessable course and I just have a quick question about the Chigorin defense since the course suggest that at move 7 there should already be a fork but then most of my opponents go to Qe6 prevening the fork. i would appreciate if you provide an update on the course. By the way my current rating is 570 and I just started playing chess this month. Hoping to get to 1,000 elo by the end of this year with the help of your course. Anyways, here's the game 1. d4 d5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bf4 Bf5 4. e3 Nf6 5. Bb5 Qd7 6. Ne5 Qe6 7. c4 a6 8. cxd5 Qxd5 9. Nc3 Qxg2 10. Kd2 Qxf2+ 11. Kc1 axb5 12. Nxb5 Nxe5 13. Nxc7+ Kd8 14. Nxa8 Nc4 15. Bc7+ Kc8 16. Rf1 Qxb2#
