I like it ...... take another 6 inches and give yourself the space to use behind the shed better. Surely the coal wagons would go in front of the coal boxes. You can not hump coal from one wagon to another to get it into the coal box. Maybe one wagon is one coal box. I hope you see this as a helpful suggestion. You are lucky to have that man cave space.
@UndergroundEric

The shed is like that so that locos can exit through the backscene and be changed out if i wanted to, there is method to the madness 😃 the narrow board also allows room for the Ongar fiddleyard once built. Yeah the thinking behind the coal is that a wagon or two come in, they offload the contents of the rear wagon, then you would re-marshall the wagons so the next full one is at the rear and then unload that one.

Steam on the met style operation. If my memory is correct they had a similar sort of setup at Amersham when the steam on the met ran. Plenty of options locos wise aswell in that case. The ongar tin shed is now no more as it blew down in the heavy winds we have been having recently
@UndergroundEric

Yeah Rickmansworth you are thinking of! It was a very interesting setup and i believe they had the loco changeover done in as little as 3 minutes or less. Mind blowing really! Oh blimey did it really!! I often wonder what is going to happen with that, as it used to be a proper engine shed back in the day, to see something similar built would be fantastic.

For the coal stage, maybe kit bash it so the end by the wagon is sloped outward to produce a little ramp to slide the coal down when hand unloading a wagon
