Really nice LSG👊🏻 looking forward to your cooks on this unit. I love how all you guys in the north get excited about these black iron cookers. They are lifetime cookers! That V-basket is 💰! Gauges are placed perfect. I’d remove the grate from the fire box, until I needed it. Make sure and oil the griddle. The gas assist is 💰 Slide out shelves are nice but can be really messy with drippings. These type cookers produce such a great flavor, they require much more attention than you’re use to. You’ll find that you won’t fire this up unless you are loading it up . Too much work fire just 2racks or even one brisket. Enjoy my friend!!

@EverydayBBQ

Stick burners are the standard for bbq. That doesn’t mean pellet grills don’t do a good job, it’s just different. It’s really hard to beat a stick burner for bbq though.

Looks awesome! So you just use lump charcoal and wood for this smoker? Where did you get the wood from? Were the ribs comparable to pbc ribs? Good video!
@EverydayBBQ
4 жыл бұрын
You can use lump, briquettes or wood. I start with a small bed of coals and then go with wood the rest of the way. The flavor is different from the PBC because it’s a stick burner but it’s incredible and the bark was the best I’ve had. Made a bunch of stuff again today. Incredible results.

Amazing looking setup! Craftsmanship never goes out of style. I have a newbie question though. When making the ribs I have always removed the membrane. I noticed you scored it. It that something you only do when smoking? Or have I been doing it wrong all along?
@EverydayBBQ
4 жыл бұрын
It can be done either way. Removing it doesn’t two things... 1) helps to produce a more tender finished product. 2) Keeps the ribs from folding (as the membrane shrinks during cooking) which scoring eliminates. We sometimes like the bottom layer when we leave it on it’s sort of like a chippy jerky when they’re done. Hope that helps.

It’s just an outstanding cooker. If it fits in your budget, I highly recommend it. You can always get something inexpensive to start and make sure you like this style of cooking as it’s different from pellet grills but if you love good bbq and all that goes with it there’s no better way to enjoy it than with a legit smoker like this one.

Congratulations on your new pit. What pits do you still have. I seen sns kamato, Gorilla Grillz Silverback. We like similar equipment. As you mentioned there are other cookers the LSG and Shirley Fabrication are my top favorites for stick burners. The things on the LSG, I would like to see is actual grease fittings on hinges, and a Pinwheel similar to Shirley Fab on Firebox and the warming oven should you purchase one. I live in Northern Illinois also. Currently I have Weber kettle and an exact replica of Phil N Florence WSM, I havnt used it yet because of no need for its capacity, still working my way thru kettle accessories. The kettle amazes me what you can do and accomplish. Like to hear more On your Gorilla experiences, that and the rec Tec seam to be my favorites in that category, kamato preference is the kamato Big Joe 3. I just happened to see LSG 24x40 with 1/2 Firebox on LSG Facebook club never used 40 inch no counterweight 2900. It was near Des Moines, Ia. I'm on fencepost with stick burner, I know it takes a lot of patience on long cooks. Acquiring and keeping firewood. Looking forward to future cooks, Beautiful Pit. Have a Great 4th of July.

I honestly have just always wanted a legit offset. All of their models are outstanding, but my preference was this one. I liked the shape of the 24 inch better than the 20 and the 36 wide is plenty for me although the 42 is bigger. It’s my dream pit. It’s mostly preference honestly. I have friends with the verticals and cabinets and they love them too. Get what you like. They’re all gonna perform excellent.
