Idk if youre gonna read this but for context, this song is an interpretation of King Louis XVI’s final speech before execution after the French revolution! He apologises to his people and accepts his demise. He was imprisoned and publicly executed by his people following his downfall. When he was marched to the guillotine for execution he attempted to give one last speech to his people before his death, but the French revolutionists booed and the executioners drums were played louder to drown out the sounds of his words. As so, before Louis could finish his speech he was forced into the guillotine and beheaded, his final words now lost forever.

The song also mentions the Roman Empire so I think it’s supposed to be a song about the history of humanity.

Sim, e também tem várias outras referências tipo: "I used to rule the world, seas would rise when I gave the word" Nesse verso, existem duas possíveis referências: a primeira é a Moisés, conhecido no conto bíblico por dividir o Mar Vermelho.

Yep it was a specific king. King Louis XVI. He was executed with the guillotine by his citizens during the French Revolution. Him and his wife Marie Antoinette lost their heads and had them held for the country to see. It’s really quite tragic actually. He wasn’t a bad person, he was just a bad leader and being an autocrat he got the blame for all of Frances problems, most of which he inherited. 😔🇫🇷

This song can be taken literally. But it can also be taken more metaphorically. It could be about a some child TV star who was world famous thirty years ago. But then they grew up and were no longer cute. And you see them managing a Burger King someplace today. Or other celebrities. Who maybe got into drugs. And their career collapsed. Or maybe about somebody won the Powerball. And were insanely wealthy for a while. Until some banker slid a piece of paper across the table and said “sign here.” And the next day disappeared with all their money. So many cases of falling from grace. Too many to list. Heck, this song could be about OJ Simpson.

Or it could mean me the fool who took the blood oath and blindly follow satan and play king when there is only one king and who is now immortal and saint Peter wont call my name at the gates of heaven unless I stop playing king and put the sword down to think these artists actors sold their souls for money and fame and me the fool gave mine for free no money no fame

@@bigred7238 This song was inspired by Louis XVI and his subsequent beheading after the Frech Revolution, the album cover even has a painting of the French Revolution as its cover art. Chris Martin does like using Christian/Spiritual themes in some of the band's songs, but he usually isn't trying to convert people or use his band as a pedestal from which to sermonize like many Christian rock groups do. Still, this is probably one of my favorite Coldplay songs, it's awesome and the religious/Monarchist themes are woven quite well into a beautiful song that doesn't smash you over the head with the religious tones. Also, I just looked up this additional information about the song from a quick Wikipedia search I didn't really know: "The song's Spanish title, "Viva la Vida", is taken from a painting by 20th-century Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. In Spanish, viva is an expression used to acclaim someone or something,[5] so "Long Live Life" is an accurate translation and the painting reflects the artistic irony of acclaiming life while suffering physically.[6] When asked about the album's title, referring to Frida Kahlo's strength, enduring polio, a broken spine, and a decade of chronic pain, lead singer Chris Martin said: "She went through a lot of pain, of course, and then she started a big painting in her house that said 'Viva la Vida', I just loved the boldness of it."

@@bigred7238 I'm pretty sure I already acknowledged the use of religious language/imagery. Also, if you want to go with the Authors Intent type of thing, then it's okay if you want it to be more literal but I think that belies the song and what it was mostly inspired by.
