Is it possible to profit on a stock that is falling in price? Yes! In this second option strategy episode, learn the basics of buying put options on bearish stocks. There can be pitfalls, however, so join your education coach to gain an understanding of the potential risks and returns of this strategy.
In this webcast, the focus was on long puts. We discussed what it means when we buy a put to open a position and how we might profit from a stock that is falling in value. We discussed some of the components of a trading plan that a trader might want to consider. We placed an example trade on the thinkorswim paperMoney platform with an OCO order (one cancels other) which included both a swing target and a stop loss order.
Options carry a high level of risk and are not suitable for all investors. Certain requirements must be met to trade options through Schwab. Please read the Options Disclosure Document titled "Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options" before considering any option transaction.
