Nice review Loyd, good to see a longer follow up, things can change with distance. Re Transvulcania. I got into ultras because I wanted to qualify for CCC and I did but was not successful in the lottery (twice!). However, I come from a deep and long Ironman background and as soon as UTMB started bringing in 'Stones' I said to my wife that I bet it will be going the same way as Kona. Unfortunately I was proved right. I left IM and got into ultras to get away from that circus, and when UTMB partnered with IM and had Andrew Messick there giving them a lesson into how to monetise every aspect of it, then the writing was on the wall for me and UTMB. I'm definitely in the 'not a fan camp' sadly. I love Chamonix but will now take the family on a non UTMB week and just soak up the mountains without the £££ hoopla. However, that is only my view and it does not stop me from watching the races and appreciating the efforts of the athletes, and those views!

Great review Lloyd. So stoked to see Transvulcania go their own way. Let's hope we see more of it. NO races 'need' Ironman to be successful.

It was highly praised on several other review sites, so I thought Mr. Loyd would have the same opinion, but that was not the case. It was a very stoic review. It is better to hear opinions that have many concerns than one-sided rave reviews. Next time I would definitely like to see a comparison between asics FujiSpeed2 vs NB SCTlail.

Would be nice to add a long sleeve running T to the shop, I find them a lot more versatile, although as its 21deg this October weekend, I guess the T will do :=)

Greetings from Barcelona, Loyd. On holiday from Colorado. Definitely agree with you re: the New Balance. It’s a fine shoe but lacks precision over the longer miles. Does suffer from a lack of instability due to…too much foam. Excited to try my new Speedland GS:PSG when we get home. Happy trails!

Picked up the SC Trail. Only done about 5ish or so miles in them. Felt a lot like the Summit Unknowns until I hit a relatively gravel road. That is where the shoe opened up and it was effortless. I think carbon plates will be good for that type of trail running.

Nice honest review mate! Maybe the Brooks Catamount 2 would be a better review than the Cascadia but seen as your taking requests 😂 how about the TNF vectiv sky or the Craft pure trail !

Just bought the GS speed land model, Will be interesting to play around with that shoe since you can remove the carbon plate. I think that almost creates two shoes in one.

Great review. I was interested in these but I can overpronate and need good arch support in my shoes to prevent medial knee injury. Right now I’m running the s lab genesis and topo pursuit. Both have excellent arch support and stability.

I can confidently say that the Brooks Cascadia 17 will be exactly what you are expecting it to be. It's a descent trail shoe. If you have a few trail shoe options, then you probably wouldn't be picking it for a long effort. I'm not sure you'd be picking it for any sort of speed work either.

I'm starting to feel these carbon fibre plates are just an excuse to add 50-100 quid on to the price. I've got the fujispeed 2 and they were epic in the first run. Anything over 10 miles and I'm in pain. 👎👎👎

I would be very interested if the top 10 men and women at Hardrock / Western States (US) or UTMB races wear carbon plated shoes. I’m still not sold on the idea or need for them 😳
@Run4Adventure
Жыл бұрын
Most of the pros are wearing carbon plated trail shoes but let's be honest it's because the brands that are sponsoring them tell them to. Also the guys and girls at the front of races like UTMB, Western and Hardrock are moving very differently over that kind of distance compared to us mere mortals 👍 I'm not convinced we need stiff carbon plates in our trail shoes either 🤔

I do love your videos but do you think you could be a bit less shouty? Sometimes I have to turn it off. I know you can do it, for example at 3:45. It must be something psychological, to do with mic position or how you think of it - like people on the telephone in a train! Thanks.

Not a bold decision from Transvulcania. No it's the only right decision. All this UTMB nonsense is ruining a wonderful low key sport. It has to stop. And they deserve every thumbs up they can get So if you supinate will this shoe level your step a bit?
@matthewmyers7826

I supinate and in the Fuji Speed 2, which has a similar build to this one, I over pronate. It's strange
