oh man I can't believe I missed this, loved your observations/humor since meeting you while I was a PA for MTV spring break 88-94. Still remember standing there while we figured out what to do when Degal Bible (he called himself) was stalking you and in our compound because someone forgot to put up not trespassing signs. Why I remember it like yesturday was how you handled the situation. One of my golden moment memiories, and understood the fear real comedy affects some while calming others.

Both of them were on the biggest comedy show in television history, highest prestige amongst comedians and actors. And both of them are regarded as top tier comedians by everyone who's an enthusiast, or in the biz themselves. They aren't overlooked, but your right, people shoukd be more familiar with them than Bill Maher for instance

@@paspa07he kinda peaked in popularity in the early 2000s He’s part of a ny comedy crew that’s just unmatched and includes Patrice. All of them also overlapped with the radio morning show open and Antony, which replaced Howard Stern on terrestrial radio when he went to satellite. I mean he was doing weekend updates before that; but I’d say he was at his biggest around 2003ish when he had his own show on Comedy Central “tough crowd with Colin Quinn” where he brought that same crew on as regulars to talk about the daily absurdity of the news.

I got a chance to meet Colin Quinn after one of his gigs in Rhode Island. We hung out in the parking lot. It was around Covid so the show is outside. He was such a nice guy so brilliant so smart. Smartest comedian there is.

@@mattposky2892it’s all an expansion of the Howard Stern concept; just bizarre, but not really, that shock jock radio overlapped stand up comedy in ny which lead to a group of cool funny and smart guys hanging and bs’ing and the rest of us enjoying listening. That’s why Comedy Central approached him for a show and with his genius, he brought a similar format there.

He manages to keep it highly entertaining and funny throughout while still having real wit and a lot of information that is presented through the lense of his understanding of history, which is considerable. Here and there I've heard less educated nobodies online say he isn't as smart as he makes himself out to be, but what do they know?

Kids these days don’t know how big and influential Colin’s standup and Tough Crowd were for years. I was a kid at the time but knew later just due to it being actual history.
