Thanks for the tip to connect longer bungee clip to bottom leader! I always fight with the floppiness. 🤣

It's the little things, isn't it?😉

Instead of magnets to hold the top, I use “quilt clips” by the Grace Company. They are about 24” long, so I use 4 if I have a queen or larger on my 10’ ‘ Kinetic/Babylock frame. I also took off the “batting” bar which was close to the floor so I can float my batting as well as the top. That way I can lift both batting and top between advances to make sure there are no wrinkles or puckers in the batting…once had to rip out a lot of quilting because the batting had folded on itself. It’s also easier to get underneath if there’s a thread nest if there’s no batting roll on a bar beneath.

Thank You - Thank You - Thank You SO MUCH for this video and answering my questions about how you "Load and Float". I'm a new Q24 owner and just wasn't sure about what leader should go on that lower Top Bar. Now I know what to do. I can't thank you enough. I enjoy all of your videos and have learned SO much. Getting braver all the time about the idea of quilting customer quilts! Thanks again!

Hope you keep this up a good while. I ordered my Classic Pro Frame over the weekend and this will really help get me going. I'll be a bit late to your MasterClass but I'll catch up! Can't wait

Love this loading method! The only thing I do different on my 5-ft frame is to attach the rear side clamps to the take-up leader to hold it in place. I don't have room to move the machine out of the way, so the leader tends to creep back over the bar when rolling up the backing. Wonder where I got that idea?! 😊

That makes me happy😁

Would it make a difference if the backing rolled the other way on the front bottom pole? I heard that you adapted yours but it looks secure either way. Was it just that your rackets didn’t work that direction?

No, I didn’t change the directions, only that I roll the backing on the lower roller instead of the tummy-height one. That’s so I can attach my magnets securely with few fabric layers.

What kind of double sided tape did you use to adhere the leaders with? The tape provided by my shop bubbles and it is not flat!

It's by 3-M, I think it's standard office type. It comes on a yellow dispenser, much like gift wrap tape.

Do you have a video of you loading a machine?

Most of the videos in my Live & Unscripted playlist include loading and an entire project.

What is your preferred height of belly bar. I think mine is a bit too high. I find I’m reaching and get on my toes.

It’s quite personal based on your height and arm length and even style of quilting. Because I do a lot of edge-to-edge I prefer mine on the high side - a little above my bent elbows. But if you feel like you’re stretching, you might try it an inch or two lower. I don’t know how difficult it is to raise or lower your machine, but it’s never a bad idea to try a couple heights and compare.
