I always find the boots clicking into the skis the most satisfying sound ever.

From the top of Mont Vallon, you'd be better off taking the other red piste down called Campagnol which joins up with Lac de la Chambre (from top of Mont de la Chambre on ridge over to Val Thorens). That then takes you back to the Mont Vallon gondola, from which you can either repeat the run or take Combe Vallon (as you did) and then ski-out on the blue track through the woods back to Mottaret. The alternative being once at the bottom of Combe Vallon keep hard-right and and after a couple of hundred yards pick-up the short chairlift (____Rouges) back to the Mont Vallon gondola. In the video, you skied under that chairlift at 6:10.

....turn sharp right at 6:19 to catch the chairlift back to the Mont Vallon gondola. That will also take you up to a chairlift heading towards the ridge over to Val Thorens. Only ski the blue through the trees if (a) you going to lunch in Mottaret, or (b) heading back to Meribel at end of the day.

As I'm now retired, and a free agent all-being-well next season I'll be trying skiing again, but I'll also be 67, plus it'll be 35 years since I did green run skiing with the Warrington Ski Club on a long weekend in the Nevis range in Scotland. So it might take me 4 to 5 years of twice yearly holidays - and lessons - to get my skill level up to the point *I* can ski the steep parts of this red run.

The number of times I’ve accidentally ended up on that long boring bit due to other pistes merging.

Love Combe Vallon. Used to get there on one of the first lifts up in the morning, quite quiet if you’re one of the first down, can go really quick and beautiful views.

I was working the 17/18 season when it dumped and I was lucky enough to do this first thing. I’ve got a lot of fond memories from the 3 valleys. There’s always great conditions some where.

Why didn't you turn right at 6:12?

Is it usually that windy at Les 3 valleys. I skied an entire week at les menuires without any wind

To be honest we were there for a week and it was windy almost every day. The lifts to the other valleys were closed a couple of days. Unfortunately there aren't many tree runs to escape from the wind either. Great skiing though!!

Skiing Tips ahhh. I was there in December. Would that have made a difference?

@@symsym7928 I was there in December as well. TO be honest I don't think there is necessarily a "windy" time of year. I think it's more down to the lay of the land and the luck of the draw. I have been there when it's been dead calm and blue skies for a week. Les Arcs is a great resort when it's windy as it has so many options for skiing in the trees out of the wind.

Skiing Tips I was at Alpe d’huez 2 seasons ago and that was very windy. It’s really exposed and clouds came rolling in within 10 minutes usually. Off to Zauchensee this feb tho

@@symsym7928 It is isn't it. I have to admit, when i look for ski resorts I look for trees! That sounds amazing! ive never been to Zauchensee, is it big?

How can one be to stupid to have a quick look into to slope map and realize that you could skip the boring blue run by taking the chairlifts back up! But to be honest, if people can't even understand simple slope maps, why are they even posting videos on youtube?
