Longmoor Military Railway - Searching for the history, relics and remains of the LMR in the 21st century.
As the Whitehill and Bordon bypass is being built, there is a last chance to see the route of the LMR as it passes through the bridge site at Whitehill, across Hogmoor Inclosure, past the old stores areas of Halifax, Toronto, Ottowa and Vancouver, and the site of Oakhanger Station. The works have revealed and then obliterated the very first days of the LMR (then the WIMR), the hut-carrying route along with a few examples of the prefabricated 18" rail components.
This channel is devoted to uncovering as much history as possible before this area is lost forever. To this end I am amassing the last of the relics to come from the bypass works and also uncovering the original route of the hut carrying railway, the WIMR and the LMR.
