In 1993, Dan Schmitt got together with Ron Hetland, the owner of Vespa of Chicago, to take apart the Vespa engine from this 1956 Vespa. It was Dan's brother's Vespa and Dan dedicate a few months to bring this Vespa back. Dan had the steel body fixed and painted with Freddie (I can't remember Freddie's last name). Dan also had Don Wing involved to fix the name-plate on the front of the Vespa. Very interesting if you want to know how a two-stoke engine is assembled and dis-assembled. We will see how the Vespa uses a single-sided swingarm with the engine connected directly to the swingarm. The Vespa also has direct-drive from the transmission to the rear wheel.
