The fact that the movie cleverly disguises itself as a silly Borat-like comedy and then becomes a genuine commentary on society and politics is why I love this movie. Also the plot twist at the end where Hitler reveals that he was fully aware of being treated as a joke and wishing to exploit the fact that people are not taking him seriously yet was amazing.

When times are bad people turn to those who appear the strongest to undertake the upmost necessary choices in order to rebuild stability and restore prosperity. Just after the burning of the Reichstag in1934, when all the other parties both right and left where reluctant to sign a decree in order give the Nazi party unchecked power for 4 years, but recognised how the state was so fragmented and politically handicapped that they viewed it as a necessary evil for preservation. Regardless of the content of his speeches, the funny moustache man didn't start out screaming at people, he built up to that as he made it more and more clear as to what he viewed the problem was. The shouting was very much a tactic, meant to demonstrate his seriousness in resolving the problem. Well done, movie. Well done.

I just kind of had a deeper understanding of the movie. Honestly, but I'm also aided by some psychoactive substances. But my insertion is he's not really seeing anything entirely new. Sure, it's placated to our modern society. But realistically, it's problems that have been repetitiously repeated. Throughout history realistically I mean like. He's just saying the same thing that people can relate to throughout history. But because people don't have access to such deep understanding of his speeches and entire playlist of such or a sadly, not common knowledge that essentially 2 people in this movie at least in the context of it believe any satirically emulating. Hitlers character caricature Does these people think that this is such such new relevant and modern Issues when realistically it's the same thing over and over again. Most people today can't fathom how millions of germans supported him back then, what this movie conveys is that anyone could fall for it at any time, hitler didn't win the election on the holocaust and the extermination of jews, he won on the very real problems in German society which he brought forth passionately with a solution that sounded logical, played both their rationale and emotions, and that's the point, anyone could fall for it, even today, it's the same sh*t just a little different message

@@jimmycakes7158 absolutely. you can still catch a lot of young folks who identify as scoialists/communists who think fascism is the opposite of that with quotes from Hitler in Mein Kampf or his speeches where he talks about how bad capitalism is. A huge reason for the rise of NSDAP party popularity also was how degenerate the Weimar Republic was, the disgusting things that were happening every day that people couldn't accept and the SA were running around beating the shit out of these degenerates every single day. It wasn't all just Hitler that made them win elections by landslides, it was also them being the only people trying to stop the complete breakdown of any kind of moral decency in society. Hitler gets remembered for the genocide which was because he blamed the Jews for the problems, but the problems he blamed them for were *very* real. There are problems today that are *very* real. This is exactly what we'd see of Hitler today, and damn, I love how this speech goes. He completely controls the room with his mere presence, despite not even being the host. He takes the point of the comedy on the sign and completely runs away with it. It's mesmerising how he can do that... and remember this is an actor attempting to imitate him, not even Hitler himself. It just shows it's not only about the idea, it's about the man who represents it, the skills he has, how he captivates people, and how he represents his idea. How quickly an audience goes from hatred to admiration within a minute or two of speaking, like sheep.

The sad part is, this is meant to be lampooning, not just the concepts, but you - the people. It is meant to be spitting in your face, gas lighting you by saying what you absolutely know to be an unquestionable truth, a tenet of mere observation. But then twisted into a joke. You, the viewer, are their punchline. That they can spit in your face, gas light you so brazenly, and instead of offended; you laugh. You laugh nervously to excuse the fact that you know that not only is what he is saying is right, but because in your heart of hearts you know this is all still part of the constant gaslighting. It's a conspiracy theory, at first. Then it's a fact, but it's a good thing, here's ten reasons why. Every single thing you know to be true you've been lied to and gaslit over for years, until they cannot avert the obvious realisation of the unthinking masses at which point they get in front of it with a "It's true, but it's a good thing." And here's ten reasons why. Number eight will shock you. And they profit from it. The reality is many of you deserve to be mocked this openly. But if you google knights fighting snails you'll begin to understand how long this war of attrition has been going on. And no, it's not the lombards, no it's not this group or that group. It's the one group that you cannot criticise. I've burned three accounts today just commenting--not even offensively--on them. The mere usage of their name, regardless of the context, will get you purged from all social media. They rule you. And they mock you. And they ritually humiliate you. Because apparently you haven't had enough yet, you aren't ready to stand up and say "I'm done. You're out. Again." For the 110th time.

I have man respect for the fact that, while this film is a comedy at heart, it bothers to aknowledge the man as human, and some some Disney-esque villain we've come to view that whole time period as due to a near century of overblown entertainment for it. It dares to actually draw attention to glaring, modern issues not just in Germany, but most of the industrialized world today. Something he could have truly seen had he been time-traveled to today - it's the kind of speech he probably WOULD give in that situation. It's refreshing to humanize the man instead of treating him and that entire period of history like some Saturday Morning cartoon villain.
@grey4720

It's ironic how Germany in the 20's and early 30's had right to be angry. However, the rise of National Socialism sadly preached misguided hatred of innocent Jews instead of demonizing solely the guilty French government for not only the Versailles Treaty, but for playing a major role in fueling the Great War since their well-deserved defeat in 1871. Today in Germany we see modern Nazis dwarfed by their successors...the bastards of Ishmael. German Jews and German natives alike are under siege again practically almost one hundred years later....All because of a weak modern Weimar government whoring their country away for the sake of votes.
