I joined a server hosting the map, someone showed me the tricks to climb various spots, he eventually disconnected. Someone new joined, and I became the one who had the pass on the knowledge.

I want someone to do this but as a whole game. Like a counter-strike clone that "puts you into a match" only it's offline and with bots, but when you win the round, the bots don't respawn, and you just have to... leave? Like go home? Exit the map, get to the highway, walk through some towns. Maybe there's a few more random bots that spawn in here and there for a few little firefights.

Genuinely in love with this idea. I think I'd like it best if it was in complete, unnerving silence after the round, and it effectively just turns into a walking simulator. You're kept in painful suspense, you keep thinking you've downloaded some indie horror game, but the scare just never comes. You can read all about this little town's history, mundane and unremarkable as it is, visit the museum, look at some statues, read the local news. Place has been evacuated after all, due to the bomb threat. You slowly discover that there really isn't anything out there of terrible importance, that outside of the context of that fun little counter-terror romp, outside the designer's intention of the level as meant to be played in a game with established rules and systems, it's just life, and it wasn't made to be exciting or interesting, it just is. Show's over, go home. I'm aware this hypothetical game would be boring as hell and require way too much time and effort, but let me dream.
@grantb7901
Жыл бұрын
That would be such a fun singleplayer game. Kinda like a mix of csgo and infra. You exit the plant to go home, but in the short time you were defusing a bomb a worldwide attack was happening, and the world is in chaos. You have to run from place to place, scouring for ammo and sneaking by to stay alive, and you eventually reach base again. You then get shipped to a different map, and fight off the terrorists there. Now the war is intensifying. You slowly make your way to the T base, infiltrate and take out as many as possible, and call in reinforcements. SAS, GIGN, all the teams join in for a final match

This map looks fucking awesome, its hitting all of my emotions of exploration and wanting to escape out of the usually socially acceptable areas. I love how there's little barriers or obstacles in the way of getting somewhere, but with some good jumps or interacting with things in a intuitive way you can go anywhere. I even like how the areas feel more like realistic places that have function and aren't just a race track for players to fight in. I want a entire game like this!

One reason you got away with that spot that can see the entire map is that it *can't* see the entire map. It's in the middle of the map, so you can't be looking at more than half of the rest of the map from it in any given direction, and it can't see any of the indoor spaces, so looking straight down cuts off pretty much everything through frustum culling.

the NaN propagation bug happened during dev to a recently added TF2 map (Hardwood), too. incredibly funny to see the same issue in a totally different game again, although in Hardwood's case, the issue was some dumb floating point bullshit that only caused the issue in AMD and not Intel
@BITBOARD_DEV
Жыл бұрын
That same NAN issue was happening to a tf2 workshop map that recently was accepted into game. What made it even more weird is depending on whether it was compiled on intel or amd determined if one of the bounces returned NAN or not. The mapper had no issue but someone at valve had the CPU with the issue and when they compiled it the map whole map turned black!
