Great tips. I just turned 70 and Let my hair grow out, it is silver now. I still have long hair and I love it.

I needed this comment, thank you! I’m 71 and have been wearing a layered bob just below my ears for so many years! I really want to get to shoulder length and worried about it making me look older.

By the way, "it" is about attitude more than anything else. I do not layer up my hair or do anything to it but braid it. Women who not only "feel" their hair but their clothes emanate confidence, and confidence is more attractive than a hairstyle.

I have layered colored hair just below the shoulders. I tried short hair and it does not look good on me. I have noticed that through the years I absolutely have to take care of it more because just as I have found with my skin, it tends to be drier. My hair is in good condition. I use a good shampoo and conditioner and Argan oil to finish.

I’m 64 with silver white hair down to my bum. I went gray very young and use to color my hair for years. Finally in my early forties I just let it go natural. I was tired of hiding my gray as if it was something bad. I always wear it in a braid down the back. Get compliments almost every day when I’m out and about.

Great video. I agree with the last post about a hair dresser that keeps my hair in cut that is going along with natural aging. I love long hair on me and on men. I usually get it cut with the layering in the front as she said and play with it by wearing a hat and sunglasses. That was a new one for me. Now I will play with it more too. I am currently single and it has been statistically noted that men like women more with long hair no matter the age....!

I have used permanent hair color and found it harsh looking. So I use non-permanent hair color that lasts 6 weeks. It looks more natural.

I am 62 with snow white hair to my low back. Found birth family in 92 & great grandfather was full cherokee called "white hair." lol Would love to see get it styled but leave long. Last time I had it cut & tried some color, I cried for 4 yrs lol. How do I find a hairdresser who knows how to do long hair?
@angelasharp6869

Kathryn Richards oh wow, I love your story about your grandfather. I think if you are brave you should KZitem how to cut your own hair. Just doing a little snip here and there can give it a boost and there is a lot less impact on your emotional attachment to it.

Kathryn Richards It took me years to find the right hairdresser for me. She was highly recommended so, I decided to try her. She herself has long hair and she understands that I want to wear my hair long. I only cut it twice a year & she doesn't try to talk me into cutting it more often. I even let her put some layers in but, not too much. I want to be able to put my hair up in an elastic without hair falling out all over. Your hair sounds beautiful!

What a great informative video! Over the last 2 years I have grown my hair long after not having had it long since I was in my thirties. I am now 65 and I felt for a long time that it would be me pathetically trying to hang onto my youth if I had longer hair. I have obviously changed my thinking about that. Thank you, Denise for your insights about having long hair in our sixties. I also credit my own hairdresser with helping me have long hair, but having it be suitable for someone my age. KarhleenO

I have masses of long straight fine hair, I don’t have layers they are the enemy. I have stopped using masses of product I blow dry and I use a little hair spray. I also colour it myself blonde now I have lots of white but I’m leaving it to go white and I love it. I do agree you need something either a side sweep fringe, or a plaid, pony tail, bun whatever. Hold your head high don’t have a man cut and enjoy x

I disagree that long hair is more work. My hair is to the bottom of my derriere and it is much easier to take care of than short hair. I wash it every week or so (not every day and not every week), braid it, and go. I never have a bad hair day. I do not have to mess with it every day except to wash my bangs (which do get oily). I use Sun In for the strawberry blond streaks and when it turns gray, it will just turn gray. I trim the ends and I cut my bangs; straggly long hair is just nasty. People stop me in stores and other public places to comment about my hair. I will let it grown as long as it looks decent and remains healthy.

I agree. I've had my hair in short layers all the way to long layers now to the middle of my back and I have found that I don't have to wash and style as often. It is the same amount of work when I do wash and style.

Joni Mitchell?!! Lol no thanks - but grey hair doesn’t necessarily thin out - mine is grey with darker greys underneath -full and the same as when I was young- the biggest factor with wearing longer hair as we age is face shape/length and condition -
