I was a volunteer firefighter , and you know a hose getting away was one of the things we would fear , very difficult to capture a wild hose and very dangerous . Sure a firefighter will run into a burning structure that looks like the gates of hell , but I wild hose will give pause to most fire fighters . We were instructed to only try to capture a hose like this as a last resort if the Engineer couldn't get it shut down , but we really didn't train on this often as they would rather we didn't engage with a wild hose . We did have a couple of guys though who were excellent hose wranglers like this guy , he did real well .

I think in an actual fire situation they couldn't just instantly shut it off or they risk a water hammer and damaging the engine. That is a LOT of pressure to stop in one instant.

Hello, I have a small/family friendly KZitem channel and would love to use this clip in a video. I'm doing a safety warning to people about locking the trigger on a pressure washer and would love to show a section of this clip (5 to 8 seconds), because it is so humorous. If you simply reply back to this comment I should be able to see it on my end. Please let me know. Thank you.

This was a DRILL......you may notice the hose is in a hose clamp with it 'ready' to clamp off. On an actual fire, having an 1 1/2 get away is a real challenge as the nozzle is meant to go into the fire and put it out, not thrash around in the driveway. I had that happen on a fire once and just jumped on it.....which worked, that time around. -Veteran '66-68

@@Diogenes69Sinope you're probably not a firefighter, these can happen sometimes where the coupling got loose and you have to control the hose before that iron ring slaps someone, once you regain control of the hose the pressure is lowered to recouple the hose as it's absolutely possible that they're inside the building when that happens
@Diogenes69Sinope

@@dragonfireproductions790 That doesn't explain why you need to crawl like a worm as inefficiently as possible into an area where a metal thing is flopping around ready to hit you at any time when you can just put a kink in the line and walk up to it, grab it, *then* recouple the hose
