Today's hymn is "Lord, I'm Coming Home". I was quite surprised to see this one in the hymnal I have, because I've heard other more famous musicians do covers of it and I just didn't know it was such an old hymn - and by someone (William J. Kirkpatrick) who I usually think of for music, not words. That was another surprise. I think, though, others do a different timing for this than how it's written, as it was different to play and sing than what I expected. What a beautiful message this song holds. Once you've listened to it, take some time and just read the words. What a good frame of mind to be in each day, to seek and to say, "Lord, I'm Coming Home".
(And I made a mistake in the second refrain by saying "Now" instead of "Lord" on the last line. I am correcting this in the MP3 for this song, just forgot for this video. :-)
Lyrics:
I’ve wandered far away from God,
Now I’m coming home;
The paths of sin too long I’ve trod,
Lord, I’m coming home.
[Refrain]
Coming home, coming home,
Nevermore to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love,
Lord, I’m coming home.
I’ve wasted many precious years,
Now I’m coming home;
I now repent with bitter tears,
Lord, I’m coming home.
I’ve tired of sin and straying, Lord,
Now I’m coming home;
I’ll trust Thy love, believe Thy word,
Lord, I’m coming home.
My soul is sick, my heart is sore,
Now I’m coming home;
My strength renew, my hope restore,
Lord, I’m coming home.
