Fun fact: on both 'Scarecrow' and 'Heavengeance' former bassist Magnum sings backing vocals as a special guest, exactly 20 years after he played on their first album, Get Heavy. How cool is that?

Brilliant record, full of surprises. I love The Arockalypse/Deadache vibes it gives. Also Lordi's clean vocals on 'The Bride' are so beautiful, I think it's the most un-Lordi song ever written 😆. Definitely one of their best albums for me. Edit: as the surprises seems not to end, Magnum sings on both Scarecrow and Heavengeance! So cool to hear him one more time 😎🤟🏻

I first saw them on Eurovision too. And I saw them live for the first time last night, and they rocked the house. Lordi, Bullet for my Valentine, Coheed and Cambria, and Rammstein changed my musical taste forever too. Until I heard those bands in my college years, I was all into rap and pop. Absolutely EVERYTHING about this track, the video, the concept, the costumes, literally everything that went into this era is my favourite thing Lordi has ever set out to accomplish. I couldn't be more proud of them all. Each member is firing on all cyclinders here & i hope they damn sure know it! no other band is doing this level of musicianship while paying tribute to very niche movies, media, etc. Mr. Lordi directing this video should be a wake up call to the new label to let the man do what only he knows how to do, its all in his monstery hand! There are so many beautifully crafted & uniquely different flavours of tracks on the album, their descision to not go with a concept album was a good one. They feel like anthology tales on any horror show, & they all work perfectly in their lack of connection , if that makes sense. THESE are my Monsters at their very best, couldn't be happier for this new era, breathing new unliving life back into their legacy!

Totally agree, it feels difficult to compare to their 2000s-2010s catalog. It's similar to their old ways, but everything from the production, the voices each instrument has is sharper, & no disrespect to Amen, but I had secretly been hoping they would hire a second guitarist for years, just to create new harmonies & lead lines. Now that Kone is here, it really sounds like they have a thicker guitar tone in general, not even stating the obvious that we actually get solid solos now, had so many killer tracks back in the day that let me wanting more when it got around to the bridge....Not anymore!
@ZealSeraph
Жыл бұрын
@@VampireForHire I feel bad for Amen to say this, but you're absolutely right. Especially after Monstereophonic it was becoming more and more obvious that there should be someone else who could play stuff that he couldn't, and create solos like what we hear on Screem Writers Guild. The fact that Amen couldn't play the heavier songs on the albums at all was a clear indication that sooner or later they would either need another guitarist to cover for him, or replace him. I love the guy with all my heart, but Kone was something Lordi needed to take the band to the next level. And according to the band themselves, getting Kone onboard was a massive mood changer. You can feel the energy and positivity he brought with him throughout this entire album.
@VampireForHire
Жыл бұрын
@Zeal Seraph Yes completely. I watched an interview where Mr Lordi himself compared Amen to Ace Feehley of Kiss in the way that he helped pave the way & mold the band from the beginning, despite his less technical approach, it was mainly riff rock anthems needed at that time, which was great. But I do remember songs like Midnite Lover having what seemed like the start of his soloing abilities that unfortunately never improved. Was hoping for some on the Humanimals 80s aor album, sadly was let down. Then here come this much more technical guitarist with just as much flash flair & stage presence as Amen had, so I can completely see why he was the sole reinvigorating force everyone else needed. I could tell things wanted to improve, but there was a "stale looming feeling".
@ZealSeraph
Жыл бұрын
@@VampireForHire Humanimals and Abusement Park could've both used some killer solos like what Kone conjures up on this album. As for Amen, Lordiary paints pretty clear picture about the reasons why him being in the band became impossible. If someone does only the bare minimum, it's no wonder they hold everyone else back and kill the mood whenever the band's together. Having someone with 100% dedication to what he does must be like a difference between night and day for the rest of the band.
@VampireForHire
Жыл бұрын
@Zeal Seraph Fully agree. Only as strong as your weakest link. When looking at the "phrasing" of each of the new songs, every single one sounds different, no similar pace or melodies that carry over or seem reused in any of the tracks. I can tell Kone also knows how to take a step back & share the riff lines with the others more than Amen did. His tone always seemed to be full force, & while that isn't a bad thing, that's not how you create unique song melodies if the guitar is always in the forefront. My new favorite song currently is "Unliving Picture Show", just Hella's keyboard opening riff/tone alone set such a different & unique mood to the track like no lordi song had before. Kone steps back allowing her to shine through when she wants to, it creates a perfect flow in the song, Lordi's lyrics & hooks compliment her keyboard melody & then Kone's solo begins within the melody of her keyboard lines & he plays off them. It's the epitome of full band teamwork on display, & it couldn't be happier!
