The saddest part of being a metalhead, is there's not many you can share with how epic this band is. Being super passionate about all kinds of music and not being able to talk about it, showing a friend and they look at me strange when I try to explain how hard this slaps. It's the never ending struggle.

@@celticluna1691 In another universe maybe. Infant Anni makes brutal deathcore. Lorna shore makes inspiring orchestral tracks with heavy breakdowns. I like Lorna Shore. But they didnt even scrape the surface of what Infant Anni achieved in just 2 albums. Infant Anni makes *All* other music sound like child's play and nursery rhymes. The *Only* times Lorna Shore comes close is mid-breakdown. Otherwise its no competition. Infant Anni is probably where Lorna Shore gets half of their sound from now. People forget when EGG came out it basically saved deathcore from utter mediocrity that was spiralling out of control with Every band sounding the exact fucking same. Whether it be vocally or their musical compositions. Infant Anni paved the way for tunnel throat. Infant Anni is the reason why deathcore vocals are more than just "highs and lows" nowadays. Again, i Like Lorna Shore. But they are the new wave after IA set the bar. Before that this band was still playing musical chairs with its vocalist and didnt sound Anything like they do now. Meanwhile IA was pushing the entire genre 20 years ahead with EGG and BOY. That snarling at the end of "To the Hellfire"? Thats Unholy Gravebirth. You can thank Dicky(IA) for the vocal technique. I can keep going, the amount of riffs and melodies IA have inspired in the last 3-4 years is wild. But this is already at the point where reading comprehension will diminish by 150% per word. Ive made my point. The *Only* time this band comes close is mid breakdown.

It makes it all that more special when you’re shoulder to shoulder in a sold-out crowd of people that are there to experience those specific sounds. I could throw something on, but often times I’ll spare the car when they ask me if I wanna put something on. I guess metal is an evolutionary journey that you must go on starting from the first metallic thing that sounds good to you. Eventually your taste will evolve and branch out and then you end up at the place of the Lorna Shore with ears that are capable of hearing the brilliance. So much great music exists in the genre, so little people are drawn to it though.

A lyrical masterpiece. So well written. In Greek Mythology, Icarus flew too close to the sun and it melted his wings. He crashed (Into The Earth) and died. This song makes me feel like he's talking about how the human race in general is so focused on becoming immortal and "omnipotent" that we get caught up in it all and fail. "Striking at god at f*cking will", "witness my omnipotence", "these fragile wings will touch the sky and paint the world in black and white"..... Don't fly too high. You just might get burnt.

Didn't he crushed into the sea and died by drowning? I'm pretty sure that is what I learned. His father (forgot his name) warned him from both- heat from the sun and the dampness from the sea and at the end both were his doom (sorry for false words, I don't speak englisch really fluid) But yes, I'm with you, it's written absolutely amazing!

They sound like basically every other deathcore band though, which in its own right isn't a bad thing. But the genre really doesn't have much of a diverse sound to it, so I'm not sure what you mean by a true progression of metal. Lmao.
@matchesigotem4186
Жыл бұрын
@@thejestingjoker4191 I like Gojira, but more on lighter listening. The only issue I have really had with them is all their songs kinda sound the same. I might have just not listened to enough. Not knocking em, when you find the formula stay with it. I think the faster metal gets, the simpler it has to be. I mean listen to the pace of this drummer, this dude has to be exhausted after every song. You start getting into high tempo complex compositions (while someone trained in musical theory can hear the brilliance) someone like me, who has only a rudimentary understanding of what's actually being played on the instrument, it just all sounds like fast paced musical note salad. Then again I think of the first time I heard Mathcore way back in the day. Bands like Dillinger Escape Plan and older Norma Jean just sound all over the place but you cant help but hear the composition wrapped in chaos.

Alright story time, About a year ago, i bought tickets to see Mastodon and Gojira Live in Asheville, Lorna Shore was opening. At that time, i wasnt fimiliar with the band at all, so i tried listening to them here and there and wasnt really a fan and regrettably, didnt give them a fair shot. Come the day of the show, me and my Brother (it was our first real metal show) went to watch them, really we were going for Mastodon and gojira. My ignorant self, thinking i wouldnt pay much attention to lorna, thought that i would just wait patiently for the other bands to come on stage. The second Lorna Shore came on stage and opened with this very song, they really caught my attention , and i knew i was a Shore Fan for life. That was almost a year ago, and ive been listening to them ever since, absolutely amazing band live, each member is insanely talented at what they do, and i regret everyday not discovering them sooner.
