PALMDALE, CA, Sept. 16 (KNN) - A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy was found shot in his patrol vehicle Saturday evening and rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center in critical condition where he was later pronounced deceased. Sheriff Luna condemned the shooting, calling it an ambush and murder, and is seeking the public's help in finding the suspect(s) responsible for the death of Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer.
The city of Lancaster released a statement shortly after 11:00 p.m. reporting the death of the Palmdale deputy.
Initial reports indicate the wounded deputy was transported to the medical center around 6 p.m. by responding deputies from Lancaster and Palmdale stations.
The shooting occurred in the area of the Palmdale Sheriff's Station on the 700 block of East Avenue Q in the city of Palmdale.
Sheriff Luna said in a press conference late Saturday night that a good Samaritan found the deputy and immediately called authorities.
