Thank you SBA. Havent been much a fan of baseball for decades now. But watching old games still brings joyful innocence like a cool breeze on a hot day.

Thank you for not having ads! 😊

No choice back then. VCR tapes had a maximum capacity of four hours. I had to sit there with a remote and pause the tape between innings. Games were much faster back then, which helped. It wasn't until tapes increased capacity to six hours that I could keep ads.

@@5BoroRaph Many people monetize their KZitem channels. I don't. I view this as an archive for my VHS collection, which has now been digitized. I think the only reason I escape copyright jail on these videos is because the channel isn't monetized.

I clearly remember watching this. As a huge Dodger fan, justice was finally served, they beat the mighty Yankees. Jack Ass Cosell was so biased for the Yankees it was disgusting. In his twisted sour grapes mind, the Yankees lost it, the Dodgers didn't win it. He gave the Dodgers no credit, only criticized the Yankees. He was such a New York Hack and a jerk.

Cosell was a gimmick. His gimmick was to stir controversy. At the time, he regularly picked arguments with Don Meredith on Monday Night Football. In this series, he tried to do the same with Jim Palmer, but Palmer wouldn't have it. Palmer routinely corrected Cosell when he got something wrong, e.g. Cosell talking about a pitch being a slider but Palmer would point out it was a fastball. He also kept asking Yankees players in interviews about "Georgy Porgy," but no one took the bait. People tuned in to MNF to hate Cosell being a jerk. The gimmick didn't translate well to baseball.

See those stirrups? Now...those...those are some Big League stirrups! That's how you are supposed to wear them! Go back to that, kids. So we send our heartiest congratulations to the 1981 World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers! Muy bien! Tres bien! Wow! What a season! (Except for the strike. No one liked that. Loved the Big League stirrups, to be sure! But strike? Nope. Not liked. By anyone!) What a game! Congrats to MVPs Ron Cey, Pedro Guerrero and Steve Yeager! Sorry for the confusion, Steve Garvey. But cool looking blue World Series rings for everyone! That will do it for us. Now, back to you. Stirrups!

That's exact what I was rooting on this past year, wanting to see them meet up in the World Series, Dodgers were upsetted by a team they dominated in the Padres, Yankees's second half of the season struggles, came back to get them in the ALCS, vs their pathblockers in the eventual champs, though glad Dusty got his ring, was rooting for him to get it, to go along with this ring here as a player, so happy for him.

It would be the very last game of the dodgers infield. Also the last time the dodgers would face the yankees in the World Series. 2004 and 2009 would have been the best chances. Same could be said for 2017 and 2019.

1:43:21 The game has changed in many ways, but none more than the reaction today to a blown called strike like this one. Back in the day nobody said anything about an obvious umpire error like this, Today it would be a national scandal.

There was apparently some behind-the-scenes drama at ABC because Al Michaels, who made his bones as a baseball announcer, was not happy about being relegated to only doing the weekend games for the second World Series in a row (they used the same arrangement in 1979) while Jackson, primarily a football announcer, called the prime-time weeknight games. As part of a negotiation with ABC prior to the 1983 Series, Michaels had it written into his contract that he would be the sole PBP announcer for all World Series games on the network.
