Some nice equipment representing the three railroads that built and used the Station was assembled to celebrate it's 50th anniversary. Colorful cab unit diesels represented each railroad as did steam with the exception of the Santa Fe. Santa Fe 4-8-4 steam locomotive No. 3751 wouldn't be ready until 1991, but the warbonnet F7's looked great. The station was undergoing work at the time as witnessed by the rusty looking butterfly covers on the platforms. Metrolink was also still a few years away. Next year will be the Station's 75th anniversary and it's exciting to imagine what celebration might be in store as the Station is now busier than ever hosting MTA, Metrolink, and Amtrak. This presentation concludes with UP 4-8-4 No. 8444 and SP 4-8-4 No. 4449 ascending Cajon Pass side-by-side with special trains in tow following departure from Los Angeles.
